Default Lexus SC430---2002 - Spare Tire

Anyone know where or how to get a temporary/ spare tire for my Lexus? I hate to pay the $900 that the dealership wants to convert my trunk over. I live in OK....Thanks

hi and welcome. you can always search on clublexus for information. there are couple of threads about this topic already. unless you want to just get a donut and throw it inside the trunk, i think getting the factory setup for that price is your only option

Default Spare Tire

I am doing the same as the Aston Martin company does. Buy an air compressor ($70) and a can of sealant. I also have a tire repair kit. Another suggestion which might be cheaper than the rear tire installation is AAA.

i always wonder if the air compressor and sealant thing will help that much? before you say it, i know it works, i have tried it in my old camry. but i am saying if you are on a freeway and boom you got a flat. considering the speed you were going, slowing down, stopping on the side, the tires are pretty pretty severely damaged and maybe the "opening" is bigger than what the sealant can do?

plus, most of the high performance tires, if you put those sealant in, i thought the tire is gone?

Question

I have another question about sealant. Will it work with the tire pressure sensors that we have in the SC430? The cans of sealant that I've seen are "sprayed" into the valve stems. That means that the sealant just goes into the tire, and seals the leak from inside, right? So, if the tire pressure sensors are inside the wheels, won't the sealant get all over the sensors?

Any sort of sealant will damage the sensors.
