Unhappy LuxLink remote top install at Lexus dealer

Went to Sewell Lexus in Fort Worth.
Their estimate was 718.00 to install the
LuxLink combo remote start / top.
I was in sticker shock.
I asked how many hours that would be
he said 7. Next I went to 2 high end audio
shops each said 150.00.
I just wanted to share this with ya'll.

7 hours?! they have to dissemble the whole car to do it?! i can understand those of us who has never worked on cars before to do it for that long, but dealership, one that takes cars apart every day for a living?! man.....

go to audio shop.... i don't think they will do a worse job in general

I was at my dealer's yesterday for some routine service, and I am considering the remote top, so I brought along the printed installation instructions and talked to the service manager.

He called in the head mechanic and they both agreed that the instructions looked very well done and that the whole operation looked first class. They estimated about 2 hours to do the work, and they would be glad to install it for me.

I looked at the instructions and estimate it would take me a full weekend, as I have not done these things on this car. I am not crazy about pulling off the door panel or the kick panel, and would be going very slow to be very careful. The tech said he can pull a door panel off in a few minutes, but you have to be very careful if you are trying it for the first time.

I may get this installed, as it would be very, very cool.
