So I call three Lexus dealerships here in the ATL today and tell them I need to bring in my 2002 SC 430 for its 52,500 mile service. All three responded the same way: you need to bring it in for either your 50,000 or 55,000 mile service as we service your car on a 5,000 mile basis.
That's weird though because although I've only had a Lexus 2 months now, the manual states that if you don't drive in harsh conditions, you can have it serviced every 7,500 miles. In fact, it looks like the previous owner had it serviced every 7,500 miles (based on the stamps in the service book.
Does anyone else opt for the 7,500 mile service plan?
Also, of some note, for the 50,000 mile service, which is just a tire rotation, oil change and topping off fluids and taking the car for a test drive I was given quotes of $97 and $110! That seems very steep for an oil change and tire rotation (which used to cost me $35 for my Honda Accord...and that was at the dealership!). Anyway, I'm going to fork over the money as I want to make sure the car is treated properly...but it seems expensive.
