Also the 2002 there was the Nieman Marcus edition which had the Thundercloud Gray Exterior (1D2) and the same red leather as in the 2nd pebble beach edition. ONLY 100 of these vehicles were made for the US.

yup, that's the real collector's item. it actually didn't really hit the dealership. the car was on the brochure from nieman marcus and the cars were all pre-sold within the hour

Henry,

Having owned and still own a number of collector cars, I can guarantee you that different paint and interior will not make a it a collector's car. Rarity of the model (the entire range) and a limited number of cars produced are the 2 items that will place them into that kind of a category.

I had a 1971 280SL that was a national show winner and the prices on it moved up ever so gradually; not enough to cover my costs. The reason is that there were 50,000 of the W113 models produced---too many to make it truly collectible.

Best,
Lou

Have you read the posts in this thread before yours(the first few pages) ?
The Hp/Torque figues didn't changed at all for 2006, it's due to the new SAE standard of measurements.

I think the Matador Red replaces the Absolutely Red . . .

Somehow I remember the official 0-60 time for the '02-'05 SC430 is 6.2s. I could be wrong though.
EDIT: Yup I'm wrong. The official 0-60 time is 5.9s alright. I must've remembered the number for 0-100kph time.

Matador Red is beautiful alright, but in a more elegant and sedate way. IMO Absolutely Red is still a more suitable color for a sporty convertible like SC430.

Actually, I personally prefer Matador Red for the SC430, as I always look at it as an elegant luxury cruiser more than a sports car. Absolutely Red is a flat color which usually does not appeal as much to me, except on cars like Ferrari's & Corvettes.
