Mileage Computer/Gas Indicator

ummm, i don't think it has to do with the gas filter. i thought the gas filter is just.. a filter?
the problem is when you are at very low gas, depends on you going up or going down, left or right. the gas tank gets pretty much empty, and sometimes maybe the car can't get any gas, and suddenly some gas... this goes on and off until all gas are gone and boom, you got a dead car on the road
our engines work with fuel injectors, and with this fuel on and off, the fuel pump can be easily damaged. now i am not sure about the injectors, but maybe the same theory.
i know for sure coz' on my gs4, i ran out of gas on the freeway and that damaged my fuel pump.... it couldn't pump gas as normal (loss pressure).
now you wonder why i warned

I have no idea how the SC pump is designed, but fuel pumps are sometimes mounted within the tank and use the fluid (in this case, gas) as a coolant. Rent a submersible water pump from home depot and run it for a minute without water and see what happens to the pump.
