Corvette has had both the banded type of TPMS and in the C5s/C6s a sensor at the value stem. Yes, they have to be relocated to the new wheel.
I suspect that Lexus works the same way.

So the sensor is attached to the rim with a band inside the rim? therefore in order to get the sensor you would have to take them outa your stock tires?

The sensors were transfered to the valvestems of the new wheels of my SC430. OTOH, I got HRE's for my G35 coupe & they are banded to the wheels by straps provided by the manufacturer. So I can still use the TPMS on both cars.
