Default DVD Navigation upgrade, where/what to buy?

Looking at getting an '02 SC430, what DVD disc will work with my operating system if I want to upgrade, but don't want to pay the DEALER prices? I was looking on Ebay, they have a map version 4.2??? Is this the latest??

4.2 won't work. you have the 3rd generation nav, you need something that ends in 3x, meaning 3.x version, which is for the 3rd gen

you can probably talk to swell lexus about it

The first digit refers to the data year, not the system generation.

For third generation systems, Toyota seemed satisfied to produce one annual update, usually in October. These were Versions 1.1, 2.1, 3.1, 4.1 and presumably soon, 5.1.

They produce updates more often for the fourth generation systems so we also have those disks labled Version 3.1, 3.2, 4.1, 4.2.

Here are the exact codes for versions 3.1 and 4.1 that will appear on disks that work with the third generation system:

86271-33032
464210-0370
Data Ver 3.1

86271-33033
464210-0510
Data Ver 4.1

Default How about 2nd generation systems

Would you please be so kind as to post the same kind of information for those of us with the 2nd generation system?

In talking to my dealer they said any DVD will work but there are so many posts on the various boards that I'm convinced that they have a little some extra in their coffee that is altering their perceptions...

Oh, they offered me a deal at $300 for the DVD...

between 3rd and 4th gen, it's totally different. 4th has voice recognition and bluetooth, the whole system is different

Good info.

Any ideas on what my ver 3.1 DVD is good for?! As I understand, it's for a 4th gen nav, but what's the 4.x ver then?!

86271-33040
464210-0337
DATA ver.03.1

i think it's about the part number. the last two digits is 4x meaning that's for the 4th gen. you probably want something that ends in 3x

In my case (updating a 3rd gen nav), DVD p/n 86271-33040 should be 86271-33032. It's obviously not enough to get just a ver 3.1 DVD. Ugh!

yeah, the one that worked for you the part number ended in 3x, guess that's the right way to distinguish them
