Angry Black Pearls Stolen!

So Saturday, I went to the mall that I usually go to and since I'm in a hurry, I decide to park in the mall's parking garage. Normally I park at a street meter since it's free in the evenings, when I usually go. As the title of this thread suggests, as I'm walking back to my car, my black pearl trunk emblems have been stolen. The theif made off with the center "L" logo of the trunk, and tried to remove the "LEXUS" emblem but the S broke off leaving my car with an emblem that says, "LEXU".

So you would think parking in a paid lot would be safer than parking on the street? Nope...one of the few times that I park in the garage my car gets vandalized.

But get this... apparently the Lexus black pearl and gold programs are supposedly being discontinued...the black "LEXUS" emblem for the SC-430 is a discontinued part! Fortunately, the parts department looked up the same logo for the RX-330 and said that they had the same part number. The center trunk "L" logo is still available. Luckily, after shopping around I was able to get both logos for about $100 (good that I shopped around...there's over a 100% markup at some dealers).

Has this ever happened to anyone before? Anyone have any tips on how to remove the excess adhesive and apply the new logos? I'd hate to pay the dealer $98/hour to do it.

Sorry to hear that! That absolutley sucks!!! That is an all time low, popping emblems off cars. I thought it was phased out because it used to happen to me all the time when I had porsche 911 so I just left the emblem off. Now it doesn't happen as often. Those black pearl emblems are not cheap items as well! Deeply sorry to hear about it. However, now its a good time to go badgeless in the rear except the big L emblem in the center!!

To get the adhesive off there is some stuff made by 3m called adhesive remover or cleaner I think? I've been told it works very well.
