Can anyone that owns one of the Luxury Motor Works combo units for auto start and remote top operation tell me what kind of range they are getting with the unit? Will it work from inside the house or across the street or do you have to be within the normal distance that the buttons work on the key fob? Thanks in advance.

I understand that but in a after market remote start you cna usually get a range of 1000 feet up to 1/4 of a mile depending on the range of the unit and transmitter itself. The key fob transmitter's range is really quite short. Can the range be extended. It would be nice to be able to put the top up if you are sitting inside somewhere and you look out and see it has begun to drizzle without having to get up and walk out to the car. Conversley on a wintery day it would be nice to be able to start the car from say 1000 feet away without having to outside.

no, the unit is only there to control the different "buttons" and create the necessary sequence to trigger the autostart, it does not have any antenna and such to produce better range. that's still done solely through the oem remote. at least that's my understanding

I would consider the OEM range as sucking when considering it's use as a Automatic car start. This is especially the case when you live in a cold part of the country as I do. The beauty of a remote start is being able to start the car on a cold snowy day from inside your home or office to warm up the car or cool it down on a hot hot day. As far as the remote top I think it would be more of a convenience with the oem range than anything else. Once again the extended range would be a great feature if you are at work or at a mall, golf course, etc... and it starts to rain or drizzle with the top down and you could put the top up remotely from a distance. I have never figure out why manufactures of convertibles don't have a sensor on the visor that when a rain drop hits it, it would close a circuit which would in turn close a relay that would close the roof. Simple circuit (similar to how your alarm works in your house) and extremely cheap to build and would be a nice feature to have. Just my rant....
