well you can always do that if you want, as soon as you let go of the button the top will stay at current location anyway

though gradually it will start dropping coz' of the weigh

Yes, the diabling is a good idea, but I guess they think the chance of this accident happening is quite remote ??

Default Roof Equilibrium

Actually, if you pause the roof when the rear window is perpendicular to the ground, it will stay there and not slowly lower itself. This is how you clean the inside of the rear window and how you get at all the gaskets every once in a while to treat them with 303.

I did it too, but as a tag team at the gas station. Pulled up to the pump, my wife was closing the top, I pressed what I thought was the gas button, you know the rest.
I was lucky though nothing locked up.

A thread from the year 2002 indicated this has been done before by more than a few members. I know I've almost done it... pushing trunk button instead of gas button.

Here's the PDF file which use to reside in the FAQ, but became delinked:

Default Hail to the Posting Board Membership!

Thanks for all of the great advice...turns out that all you have to do is slam the trunk shut and disconnect the battery and the whole system re-engages itself!

Thanks to the membership for saving me a trip (and the associated $$$) to Lexus!
