Default Has anyone removed the spoiler?

I'm curious if the SC430 would look good without the spoiler. I'm not a huge fan of mine but it probably would look funny without it. Anybody tried it?

I have seen very few without the spoiler and once you see one without you'll know why they are not plentiful. It is not a pretty sight. It makes the car look like it needs a butt tuck.

i didn't realize it had a crease in it even without the spoiler. i thought it might be round and amorphous. but still, it looks very naked.

If I found a body shop that I trusted, I'd have that damn ugly thing taken off in an instant. I didn't want it in the first place (didn't want run-flats, either) but I had no choice. I don't know what subsequent SC430 brochures pictured, but in my 2002 brochure there was not one photo showing the car with a spoiler.

If you take a look at the profile of the car, you'll see that the little notch in the rear echoes the notch where the hood meets the grille - a very nice touch and well thought out. The spoiler just ... well ... spoils the whole look, like a boil on a model's butt.

Isnt that a pic of one with a spoiler? Its hard to tell. I have mixed feelings about it. But if I get a body kit I think the spoiler would be essential. Did you remove yours?

I prefer it without the spoiler, the pic above is without.

Looks like this without the spoiler with a Wald kit.

I was unable to find a good quality photo taken from the same angle as the one I posted so you could best see the difference. Take a look at the gallery - virtually every car exhibited in there has a spoiler.

No, I did not have my spoiler removed. My concern is that a body shop will screw it up and make the car look worse. Another forum member, whose name I cannot recall, did have his removed and was pleased with the results. I think he was from somewhere in the middle Atlantic state region.

I never realied that either...I think I like it better with the spoiler. I love the SC but that rear is very strange looking.
