torque converter
Ok, I am giving in. I can't stand the lag anymore when I floor the car. Time to change the torque converter. Those who have done so. Which brand did you get and and with what set-up. I want the most aggresive set-up with out making the check engine light go on. Is 3000 about the right stall speed?
Those who have done this mod. Does it drasticaly change the car off the line and 0-100 times?
Thanks all

If your lag is that bad, you may want to have your car checked out. Granted I get a tad of lag but it is still close to my GS400 which is responsive.
Now a TC will certainly help your launches and down shifts.
2600-2700 for NA motors and 2200 for forced induction motors is recommended.
brands, a few available, different names, a few the same
Dragon is one of them and available from Carson Toyota -L-Tunedparts.com. TMengineering.net can get them as well I'm sure.

most of the people have 2800 stall speed from precision industry (dragon). it's a good one. i have that on my gs400 and it's awesome
however, as far as i know most tq converter will cause the engine light to come on for the 430 engine setup, coz' of the extra sensors on the stall speed. i THINK the stall speed on the stock converter is around 1800. maybe there is a max stall speed that will not cause the cel, but personally i am not sure if i would wanna go anything under 2800. it's like spending just as much money but for less gain

Purple Dragon
I ran the Dragon on my SC400 until I sold it to my brother last month after tens of thousands of miles on it, and found it to be one of the best bangs for the buck you can get. I did not have any sensor issues, and the car ran normal. Shiftted like butter... until you launched from a stop, then it would hook-up fast.
Find someone who can install this correctly, and you should replace all the T-IV (fluid) since the converter holds a quite a bit.
I will get one for my 430 onc ethe warranty expires, but right now I am holding off on any performance mods. so I don't get into a pissing contest with the dealer in the event of needed repairs.
The folks at Precision seem to be helpful if you need install questions answered. On the early Dragons, the converter bolts needed to be shaved a tad bit for clearance... I am told this is no longer an issue.
Good luck !

I contacted srt http://www.swiftracing.com/engine/torque.htm that sells the dragon. They recomend a stall speed of 3000. I know some people here have done this on an sc430 without engine light troubles. I just don't know what stall speed they had it set to. Can anyone who has done this mod to this car please chime in. Thanks everyone
oh and to the coment about it being that slow. Thats a normal problem with the sc430. Your GS doesn't have the same problems. It has been discussed here a bunch of times.

someone here has tc for the sc430? i dont' know of any yet, would love to
and it's not about install correctly or not, it's about the 430 engine setup sensors. i know couple of gs430 owners with the tc and no cel, but i know a lot more gs430 people with the tc and they have cel. people even talked to PI and they say it's not a tc problem it's just sensors on lexus side, so they can't do anything about it
i have the tc on my gs400 so i can just speak from what i have and have read on gs forums
