As imbuggin said previously, you can get aftermarket wood veneer pieces that go over trim that is plastic, but I don't think they make it for pieces that are already wood (i.e. not much of a demand to warrant doing). Coincidentally, last weekend I just added more burl walnut trim pieces that I got on eBay. The seller said it was made by Lexus and would match exactly. While it surprisingly did match exactly, I don't think it was made by Lexus.

The pieces I added were around the power window and door switches on the door armrests, large air vents on the far left and right sides of the dash, dash light dimmer, and round tweeter speaker trims. I didn't do the larger speaker trim that is brushed aluminum since I like that look. I love the veneers that Lexus does on the SC models, and my old SC300 which had the lighter walnut stained birds eye maple still looked perfect after ten years.

The installation fo the aftermarket veneer is really easy with the most important step being the cleaning of the plastic trim piece first. After that, you simply peel off the plastic from the back of the piece to expose the adhesive and carefully press it down. It does stick up a little proud, but not bad and almost everyone except fanatics would say the pieces were from the factory. Some areas are even recessed like the area around the dash dimmer which make it look stock.

I was just searching for the name of the "light colored wood" and now I got it - Golden birds eye maple (thanks lexarrazo)

Just wanted to bump and say that Ecru/Golden birds eye is probably the best example of upper class(yness) and elegance. All of the combos are but ecru/golden birds eye is my favorite.

I just picked up a black leather, golden birds eye wood steering wheel for my own SC (last generation) and I plan to do an entire custom wood replacement to go along with it! I love this wood!

Oh and here is a picture so we could all pay homage to this wonderful wood brought to us by Lexus.

Man I agree with a lot of the people here, the ecru with maple looks AMAZING, one of the big selling points for me to buy the car. Stands out like crazy, but if thats not your style, just go with a black interior. Either way, just owning this car is flashy as hell...
