Hello all i was going through the thread to try and educate myself to see if the offset of the wheels i was looking to buy would work for mt SC430 and i am still a little unsure could someone please help. Any help would be greatly appriciated!! Thanks
2002 SC430
Wheels are
Front: 20 x 9 + 25
Rear: 20 x 10 1/2 + 27
Can I mount 18-inch rear tires flush with the fender without the risk that the tire will hit the fender during normal driving. By "normal" I mean going slow over speed bumps, driveways and avoiding potholes.
Second question is: What is the widest 18-inch rear tire that can be installed on the car assuming flush to the fender? I would appreciate the response in inches rather than by the size like 285 or 295 because the actual widths are different depending on the brand.

..hey Angelo, I'll check my size and offset for you tomorrow when I get home.I know I'm running 18x9.5 on the rear, but i can't remember if the offset is 20 or 25. The tire size is 275/35/18 & I have a very flush,no rub of any type set-up. I know you can run a 18x10, possibly a 10.5, but then the offset/tire size will become a bigger factor to keep from rubbing. Also if you need new shocks,a wider tire/rim combination will almost always let you know, with a little rub...hope this helps some

I would appreciate any info you can give me. My only concern at this point is the car up-down bounce on bumps and such and the possibility that the rear tire will hit the fender. I am not planning any mods and the tire diameter will always be 18. I just want my next set of tires to be as wide as I can fit and flush to fender outside. My concern is also only about the tires not the wheels.
Does this car have stops to limit the wheel-to-body compression of the rear end?
...sorry I'm a little late getting back to you,but it's been hectic around here. My tire/wheel size (for the rear) is 18 x 9.5, with an offset of 25 & the tires are 275/35/18. I'm also lowered about 2inches all the way around. Since you aren't planning any types of mods, you should be able to get alot of rubber under the fenders, The width of the rims & offset will play a part in how wide of a tire you can use.
HRE 546, 19", offset +25, 255/40/19 fit front and back without rubbing.
Went with an aspect ratio of 40 because 35 was too short, and damaged my wheels on Long Beach potholes.
It's a little fat, but it helps being taller for comfort, and wider for traction.
Philip MST, I was just wondering if a 255/35/19 will fit on an 9.5" front rim and if it will rub at full turn . . . rim is 19 x 9.5 +17. Can you confirm one more time?
Forgestar F14s with Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110
Front: 19x9 +30, 245/35/19
Rear: 19x10 +30, 285/30/19
Dropped about 1" on Megan EZ Coilovers. Not quite flush, but as low as I can go with the sloped driveway.
Only rubbed once while turning during a bump.
OK, I am thinking of going a different direction. Going for a bit more rubber, will the bigger wheels cause rubbing and will the 245 front tire be too small for a 9"rim?
Front:
9" x 18", +33
245/45-18
So the wheels will have 25mm closer to the fender, tires will be 0.96" bigger in diameter and gains 12.25mm in ride height.
Compared to your existing wheel, this new wheel will have an inner rim which is 0.7mm closer to the suspension strut. The outer rim will poke out 24.7mm more than before.
Rear:
9" x 18", +25
275/40-18
So the wheels will have 32.7mm closer to the fender, tires will be 0.94" bigger in diameter and gains 12mm in ride height.
Compared to existing wheel, this new wheel will have an inner rim which is 7.3mm further away from the suspension strut. The outer rim will poke out 32.7mm more than before.

You may want to consider going with a staggered setup (8 or 8.5 front , and 9.5 or 10 inch rear rim widths) running those size tires, but they may still work , however. it's important to keep the same overall diameter when you are going to larger diameter wheels. Try dropping the front tires to a 40 section width and the rears to a 35 section width to keep the same overall diameter and you will probably be OK....
Thanks NAmVet68 I was hoping to stay at least 40 profile to enhance ride and comfort. I was also trying top fill the empty space in the well with rubber to avoid lowing. Not sure if it will work.
Anyone has an opinion or experience about fitting 05 infinity G35 wheels (18" x 8 +30 with 245/45/18 tires, 4% taller) on 02 SC430? Is there a website to compare the specs?

Good luck....
I don't see an issue running either setup, if you aren't lowering the car.I'm running 18x8.5 w / 20 offset & 225/40/18 Michelin A/S tire (front) & 18x9.5 w / 25 offset & 275/35/18 Michelin A/S tire (rear).I have plenty of room up front to run a 245/40/18. On the rear, I could get away with a 285/35/18. I'm also lowered about 1-1.5 inch, all the way around. I also have no rubbing issues

...just saw this, so thought i would pass it on....if you look at the thread titled "total colour change of my sc430", in his post he mentions having 18x9.5 w/25 offset on the rear. Looking at the pic of his car, I'm almost sure that he has a 40 series tire on the rear. This should at least give you a visual of what it may look like
