So.. back for more advice. There's a ton of talk about wheel sizes but not much on tires and I was hoping for concerns and criticisms about my plans...

I've found a set of wheels that my wife and I both like. 19x9.5 +35 in the front and 19x9.5 +22 in the rear. For tires we were thinking 265/35r19 all the way around. Does anyone see any issues doing that?

This car isn't driven hard at all but we do live in an area with fast, twisty highways so my big concern with this setup is not having wider rears.

Default RC350 19/8 and 19/9 Wheels with Continentals

Continental ExtremeContact Sport 235/40/19 and 265/35/19 tires arrived and mounted. Just over $1350 installed with certificates, taxes at Discount Tires. Wheels are RC350 OEM wheels for RWD stagger 8 and 9 inch wide setup. Got them from Santa Ana Wheels in good, used condition. Front offset is 45 mm, rear offset 60, no spacers, hub diameter is same as SC430's wheels. So no hub rings needed. Original lug nuts fit the new wheels just fine. No rubbing detected thus far.

Suspension is stock height, but with BC Coilovers (10K front / 10K rear spring rates), Figs front sway bar, ISF rear sway, Figs refreshed front suspension. Stock height needed on my SC430 because I also daily drive it during winter months and can't afford to lose more clearance. On my OEM 18 inch wheels, I had Michelin Pilot AS3's. I was wanting to put Michelin Pilot Sport 4's on the new 19's, but COVID killed off supply of 265/35/19 size tires. Thus far, the Continental ECS tires are a pleasant surprise. Grip has been more than needed for when I'm on twisty roads, noise level is about 1/3 that of my winter setup (Nokian Hakkapeliitta 225/55/R16). Bumps are much less harsh than expected with the larger 19 inch rims and smaller side walls. Wheels better fill wheel wheels and rear outer side ends up outward about 1/2 inch from OEM, but because the offset change is just over half the increased rear width, load center is minimally affected. Quite pleased with the updated tires and wheels.

Sidewalls have very little outward or inward deviation from rim. They sit nearly vertical (no stretch or bulge) on both front and rear. The sidewall extension outward beyond rim is near nil. This setup will not at all protect the rims from curbing. Touch a curb and the rims will get damaged, not just a rubber scrub.

VSC functions normally. There is a sharp right corner on a road here with simultaneous climb that has on occasion broken my rear 18 inch OEM wheels/AS3's completely free and required manual correction from 45 degree fish tailing (with VSC on!). With the new 19 inch setup and wider rears, that same corner only caused the VSC to beep, but I could not feel any breaking free of the rear. Trajectory just followed through curve as if nothing was happening to tire traction.

Some picts to show offset. Still hides its paws a little. Probably not a bad thing given how the sticky Continentals like to pick up and fling small pebbles.

Some shots to illustrate how the wheel and tire combo look on the SC430. I think they are a nice present for my 227,000 mile daily driver.
Installed just in time for a warm day road trip.

BTW, I had Discount Tire mount the tires, but I hauled them home to bolt on myself. That let me triple check the fitment, be assured of perfect torque, and avoids all liability hassle about TPMS and mounting tires with just plain stems. Only one surprise. They left one of the rear tires at bead setting pressure (50 PSI). Not a biggie since I check before mounting, but it wasn't an expected pressure to be in a tire. I set tire pressures to RC350 standard 35 front / 36 rear. In my OEM wheels I usually ran 36 PSI all four corners.

EDIT: After more miles and switching between the SC430 and DB9, I could finally understand how handling was affected by the new wheels and tires. Hard to put into words, but the SC430 felt a bit heavier turning into curves, and there was slight straight line skittishness in the rear with the new wheels and tires. One click stiffer on my BC coilovers all around and things are back into good balance. Suspension simply needs more damping to control the larger sized wheels. It's amazing how much getting the damping matched to the wheels alters how good the suspension feels.

WOW, getting wheels is a real hassle.

I thought that would be simple since I didnt want any changes except for the look of the wheel....18 x 8.5 x 40 5x114.5......simple right. Then find one I liked...VS626 by Versus.... Ok, going well now just see who has them. OOOOPs, no one has them. 45 day wait....at least..... Ok I will search all the shops, maybe one has a set of 4 in the back room.

Then the bombshell.....get a note from one shop that they will fit ONLY the rear but not the front......What the hell is this all about?? I want a "square" set up. Of course they dont have them anyway.....LOL

So will I have a problem with them on the front or was that note mistaken? I dont mind waiting for them (well, really I do) if they will fit.

If you gave them the setup thats in your post (18x8.5 x 40 ), then there should be no issues at all. Also, the bolt pattern is 5x114.3, not 114.5, I'm running 18x18.9x25 on the fronts of my Sc, it's lowered also, without any issues

I have two sets of hub centric rings, both are 73.1 to 60.1. One set is plastic the other set is aluminum. Does it really make any difference once they are torqued down?

For size, only one will fit. For material, I've had trouble with the plastic rings not staying in place, and I have had them crack and break. However, I've never tried the aluminum ones.

Both sets are the same size (73.1 to 60.1). Just one set is plastic and the other set is aluminum.

Default Rim size and offset

Changing my stock pie plates to aftermarket. I see all the questions about tire size and offset..and I am now confused so let me lay out my question.
If I am ( and I am ) looking to fill the wheel well in both height and width. What would be the best set up in rim diameter and width ( staggered or not ), best offset ( I am assuming in the negative to reach the edge of the wheel well ) and best coil over setup so that nothing rubs, where I can still use my TPMS and have a reasonably comfortable ride when bumpy?

indeed, LONG LONG time ago...

i dug up my old files and found the article where i talked about GS, IS, and SC wheel fitment. again, this is from 17 years ago when wheel fitment culture was different. i think over the years people got more aggressive and are more willing to dial in the camber to fit the wheels.

i updated my first post with an attachment of the file, hope it helps!
