This should eliminate the burned out light indicator for those upgrading to these lights without resorting to tape or resisters.

we will find out if it works, right?

it depends on what ecu you talking about. this unit is just in the back controlling the taillights if i am correct. if that's the case, they could be cheap

List price for the ecu is a tad over $200 so I would imagine something better.
Will know more next week when it arrives.

i lost count. with the ECU for $200+, if it solves the problem, what does that bring the entire 06 taillights upgrade to?

Default Light ECU in hand.

Well...the moment most have been waiting for. I picked up the ECU from Carson today. We all owe Luis /Steve a thanks. Anyhow I could not install it as planned in their parking lot as there are many wires that need to be transferred over and also it was too bright out to see if it would cure the error light as I have tape covering 98% of the light but just enough to know it is on in the dark.

So anyhow I got it home this evening and removed the old unit and plugged in the new one and put the key in and started her up............ooops! I have to go eat dinner. Be back.

Default Success

OK everyone, here it is. PICS and a movie showing the lights and NO LIGHT.

In other words, the new ECU WORKS perfectly. No light whatsoever! I am sure Luis at Carson will come up with new prices for the group buy. I have mine.

Instructions:
1) Put top up
2) Remove carpet over spare tire area
3) Remove Side pockets, left and right. 3 plastic clips each hold them down.
4) Now remove the two 10mm bolts holding the hold downs (polished loops) left and right.
5) Now remove the middle trim piece that cover everything in the middle to gain access to the ECU. It has many of the same plastic clips. The above will take an average 20 minutes at most.

You should now see this. The rest takes about 20 minutes tops.
See ECU on left. Unplug negative cable on battery before proceeding.

Remove the top to the unit. Release tab is in the back. Lifts right up.

Old unit installed in car ready to be removed. All plugs need to be unplugged.

You wont see this as I took apart the old unit to look at the circuit board just because I am curious.

Three 10mm nuts hold the ECU on the body. This one in on the back. Two are up front.

New unit in the box from Carson. All required fuses are alrady installed.

Remove this 10mm nut. A black cover will be on this which needs to be removed. Then just unplug all of the plugs. They cannot be switched around so do not worry.

Here is the new unit installed in car. Notice that the black bolt protector is not yet on on bottom right.

Make sure all plugs are seated. 3x10mm nuts are secure. 10mm nut holding wire is secure with black bolt cover on. Now connect battery and test. Once completed reinstall everything in reverse. Be prepared to purchase some of those plastic clips as they tend to break easy on removal.

It has been a long 2 month journey and many have been patient and helpful. Enjoy your 06 tail light upgrade. Carson is waiting.

I'll second that.

All the treads started by Lee here on SC430 forum are the best.
Never seen lee ask questions like what color should I get or which style of rim should I get...
man.. you don't know what you want, you would be better off not buying it

It is nice that we have lee to test every new toy for us.
