How to disable tire-pressure monitoring (TPM) system?
#257
In the previous post I started the ID registration process, but I did not complete it because they were already registered...
the following pics show the data data page and my dash.
I deflated a tire to demonstrate my TPMS Sensors were still functioning after I performed the signal check...I was not able to disable the sensors.
if you perform this test, use the DATA LIST page to verify the tire pressure on your TPMS sensor.
Also, is your threshold 26.5psi?
Note 34.1psi
Light off
Tire deflated, note ID one 26.1, NOTE the threshold, 26.5. I am below the minimum threshold.
The light is on...
ID one tire was reInflated...
Light turned off...

Yes, you can disable the TPMS warning light with Techstream. If your warning light was triggered because you have bad sensor(s), not because low pressure, you can use Techstream to disable it,
I did the experiment in this thread, three times with yield same results.

This week I swapped my aftermarket chrome wheels for the Lexus OEM alloy wheels on my 2003 SC 430 with 151k miles. The TPMS light on the dash started beeping immediately. I took my car back to Tate Boys and they informed me I need to go to the Lexus dealer to have my TPMSs re-programmed, as they did not have the instrument to do it. I did not want to go to the Lexus dealer or disconnect the two plugs mentioned in this forum, so I called my local repair shop that specializes in Toyota and Lexus repairs and scheduled an appointment. I have used them before to replace the timing belt/water pump and starter, and they are excellent and charge half the price the Lexus dealer charges.
Today I took it in. They checked all the sensors and they were OK on voltage. They re-programmed them in less than an hour and charged me $50 to do it.
I recommend you do the same and find a reputable shop in your area where they specialize in Toyota and Lexus repair.

I just disabled my TPM system by following some of the instruction on this thread. At first I was very skeptical about pulling anything off because of fear that some of the clips might break. As it turned out, it was very easy. Here are the detailed instructions.
1. Put on emergency brake just in case you're on an incline because you will need to put the shifter on 2-L
2. Open the console - both the top cover and the tray3. Using your thumbs, placed them on the back portion of the small panel for the seat heater switches. Push or pull up. Once the back come off, grab the panel and giggle a little bit while pulling up - not too hard. Disconnect the electrical plug from the back.4. Wih the panel for the seat heater switches off, you will see two clips holding down the wood panel around the shifter. I pushed the two clips up (just to make sure there's no strain on the clips) while pulling up the panel slowly.
5. Once the back potion of the wood panel is off, giggle left/right a little bit while pulling the panel towards the back - to disenage the two clips right below the radio. There are two "claws" on the left and right side of the panel. This is why you lift a bit while pulling back.
6. Once the wood panel is off. place a rag underneath (to prevent scratches) and pull back as far as the two wiring harnesses will allow. If your hands are small, you can reach for the two plugs on the TPM unit right below the radio (picture in this thread). Pull/disconnect the plug.
7. Reinstall the wood panel by with the front clips (below the radio) first the do the reverse, i.e., push forward while pushing down.
8. Reconnect the plug of the seat heater and resintall the small panel.
That's it!

Has anybody done a similar disable on a Gen 3 RX 350?
I'm hoping there are 2 easy to unplug plugs in a similarly accessible location, however, the console configuration is quite different from the SC430 and I don't want to start pulling off random panels.
Thanks.

Thanks so for the pics! I am a 65 year old female and had this done in nothing flat. No more warning light.
I got rid of the run flats when I bought mine and let Costco check my tire pressure for me. For those of you that
want to keep the tpms up and running just buy some aftermarket bluetooth for your tires and bypass the
ridiculous Lexus ones.
