Satellite Radio for SC430?
Just curious whether anyone has had success with installing Satellite Radio in the SC430. Where did they mount the head unit and where did they mount the antenna? We do a lot of driving down the Central California coast and there is not much for FM stations. It would be nice to add Satellite but this is a new lease vehicle so I'd like to hear what others have done.
Thanks

If you don't mind not seeing the receiver and it's text messages, just put the unit in the bottom section of the center console box where you also have a convenient power plug. I put the antenna flat on the dash under the windshield and ran the wire straight back into the right side of the Nav screen and then pushed it into the seams of the dash down and around back into the center console box. Very quick , easy and looks and works nice. Bought another antenna for my SUV and its a snap to switch the receiver from one car to the other. I live in Chicago and the antenna in the car on the dash works great. Also using the FM transmitting to your Mark Levinson radio sounds great. My Chevy SUV radio-- not as good sounding but still good..
My wife wants Sirius for Xmas in her 2005 MB S430 and I wish I could put one in that vehicle as easy as the SC430 was............

Thanks Bill,
Would you mind telling me which model Satellite radio you purchased? I can really go with either one. I am most familiar with Sirius as it comes with my Dishnetwork subscription.
Thanks,
Doyle

I just put in a Sirius S50 in my SC, looks great. It's a vertical unit that isn't very wide at all so I mounted it on the drivers side foot well right next to the radio. I'll do a new post in the near future with photos of the install once I get my AUX in adaptor, but it looks very good right now, you can't even see the tape lead unless you look very closely.
As for the antenna, I racked my brain for quite awhile on where I could actually put it, especially without it looking awful and then it hit me...Rear headrest.
The plastic part of the pack pops off for the baby seat latch thing and there is a big open space with metal on the bottom. I stuck the antenna in there and its magnet caught the metal piece in there and holds it horizontal and securely in the headrest. It has a view outside the rear window that way and the cable is incredibly easy to conceal all the way to the dashboard.
I get almost perfect signal with the top up or down and the antenna is completely concealed, and it took about 5 minutes to put it in there and hide the cable. I really felt like an idiot for not thinking of putting it there beforehand
