Default Bluetooth

I heard something about lexus having bluetooth in their cars so it synchonizes with your bluetooth cellphone. Does anybody know if this is true, and if so, how can I set it up? Thanks

it's available on 2006 models, not sure about earlier models. if you go to your navigation telephone set up menu, find the 5 digit code and put it in your cellphone then you are set to go. lexus bluetooth system will locate your bluetooth cellphone whenever it's within 15 ft of the car or so.

Default Bluetooth Cellphones are NOT all Compatible!

In my experience, it just ain't that easy! The fundamental problem is that "bluetooth" is nothing more than the communication protocol between two devices - kinda like RS232. The signal processing at either end is NOT part of bluetooth, and is very far from "standard". (The best part about "standards" is that there are so many from which to choose!)

What this means to us is that there is only a handful of cell phones that are fully compatible with the SC430! If you have one of the others, be prepared for reduced functionality or it may not work at all! I have a Motorola V710. It kinda works. The "handshake" seems to work between phone and car, however, the receiving end of the call hears terrible echoes and distrorted audio. My Lexus dealer in Reno, Nevada assures me that this is because my phone is not compatible. I haven't yet tried a phone that is on the approved list.

Here is a link to look for yourself. As I understand it, Lexus pays a service to test every new cell phone model and authorize which is actually compatible.
http://www.lexus.letstalk.com/produc...0/setZip=92705

If you do have the correct cellphone, you will then need to figure out how that particular cellphone can be programmed to talk to your car. The car and the phone have to literally do a "handshake". It's not that difficult, but you need your cellphone manual.

I sure hope someone can prove me wrong on this. I really don't want to mess with new phones for me and my wife! (I don't recall reading about this limitation in the Lexus sales material!)

Did you have to do anything outside of the normal setup process to get the 650 up and running? TIA.

Thumbs up Treo 650 and the Lexus

It was a bit of a struggle but we got it to work. Search for our post by searching for "flint330" and read the thread started by "the indr"

it was actually intro on the late 2004 model, but if you have a earlier one, then i suggest you get the nokia cw-7 bluetooth module which is very easy to fit.

Has anyone figured out how to increase the volume of the call for the person on the other end? I keep getting complaints that they can barely hear me.

mightyd, I have an '06 RX330 w/ Treo 650. I notice that for some reason when connected to the car bluetooth, my call volume on the Treo keeps defaulting to minimal. I have to manually set the volume-up-sidekey to maximum frequently. Then my callers can hear me better. I haven't figured out how to set this max volume as the default, if there's a way.

Good luck.

Wait so do you need to have the Lexus Navigation system with the screen to have bluetooth? My 2005 did not come with a dvd/navigation screen. I see the three buttons with the speakers right by my rear veiw mirror. What do I do to get the bluetooth to work? I just got the Nextel I870 bluetooth phone.

there is no nav screen? what do you have for that part of the car then?

i don't know, without a screen, how do you control the bluetooh phone? and the 3 buttons by the rear view mirror? you talking about the homelink?
