Default Programing Master Key SC430

Purchased a 2002 SC430 last month from a non-lexus dealer and the car only had one Master Key. Ordered a valet key from my local Lexus dealer for $180.00 including programing, just so I would have a backup. They wanted $365.00 for a new Master key. Ouch....
So, being handy I purchased a uncut Lexus key over the internet and found a local key shop to cut the key. It works in all the locks but now needs programing.
So, with CL instructions in hand I tried to program the key... Should be a no-brainer however, no luck. I also tried to program the remote entry and also, no luck. I am wondering if I have reached my limit on keys being programed. Since the orginal lost master and valet key plus the master that came with the car and now my new valet key for a total of 4. I have not tried to unprogram the keys leaving me only the one master key, in fear of messing up and not having a working key.
I have tried both programing approaches for lexus cars but not really sure which is correct.
1st approach given to me by the key cutting company for 2002+ lexus cars:
1. Doors and windows closed
2. insert old master key into ignition
3. Cycle on / off 5 times
4. Open and Close drivers door 6 times
5. Remove master key and insert the new duplicate key
6. Turn ignition on - new key will be registered after 60 sec when theft light goes off.

2nd approach:
1. Doors and windows closed
2. Simultaneously depress and release brake and accelerator pedals
3. within 5 sec - insert working master key - do not turn on
4. within 15 sec - depress and release accelerator pedal 5 times
5. within 20 sec - depress and release brake pedal 6 times
6. within 10 sec - remove working master key
7. within 10 sec - insert the new cut master key and depress accelerator pedal one time
8. after 60 sec - key will be programed and light will stop flashing.

Can someone confirm my theory and/or provide me a confirmed set of key programing instructions that have worked on a 2002 SC430. help...

Thanks

Thanks,
Which approach did you use 1 or 2?

I'm guessing that I need to delete the 2 lost keys and my new valet key before I can reprogram any new key.

actually i think for you you need to do both 1 and 2

for me, my key wasn't cut at all, it's a blank key. i just needed the imobolizer to be programmed, so i only used method 2. but for method 1 it's to program the remote, and you need to turn the key on, which i couldn't do at all
