Default can i get my rims straightened or do i have to buy new ones?

All four of my rims (18" 2005 SC430 chrome) are bent to some extent from potholes and the other day I tapped the curb with my rim and the next day that same tire went flat (245/40ZR18 RFTs). I want to get as much use out of these rims as I can since I have only had the car since April and put on less than 10,000 miles. I just ordered a new tire and now I am wondering if I should get the rims straightened or must I get new rims. Your responses are appreciated.

2nd question: This is the second flat tire I have replaced in 8 months. I was thinking of eventually getting a new set of thicker tires so that the tires are less likely to go flat and provide the rim with more protection. Is this thinking correct?

I really bent a 22" on my truck, my local shop fixed it no problem was really pleased untill we found a hairline crack which with the weight of the truck (range rover) I thought best not to chance it and ordered a new one.

TBH ive heard anything bigger then 20" is a real pain.

Depending how bent your wheels are should be no problem, mine was really bent up couldnt drive on it.

1. damn 8 months and 10k miles and you bent all 4 wheels already. i know it's bad in ny, but probably you gotta be more careful on your driving
2. it depends on how bad those wheels are bent. sometimes you can just repair them for pretty cheap price
3. if you stay with the same wheels, you should get the same size runflats. i don't know if there are 245/45/18 runflats out there?!

sounds crazy, but best way to prevent another dent wheel is probably downgrade to 17" wheels and 50 series tires to allow more cushion between wheel and potholes.

The Firestone Firehawks are 240/45/17 runflats that are the same size as the SC430 stock. Its made for the front wheels of the C5 Corvette. Most of the Corvette owners have switched to the Firehawks and they get good ratings. Lots of choice in runflats at this size.

What I meant was the overall tire diameter of 25.7". Obviously it would mean dropping the wheel size to 17" as s2000 suggested.
