Default Starting over with new wheels and aftermarket brake question.

I was originally planning to sell my car so I began disassembling the aftermarket parts. The dealer of a company other than Lexus were absolute jerks so I cancelled my order with them. So, now I decided to keep the car and I am going to re-install all aftermarket parts. Ordering some new wheels as soon as I sell the old ones and I really want brakes. I noticed that some of you have aftermarket brakes. I would like to know which company you use and your opinion on the feel, effectiveness, balance, etc. Thanks in advance for your input.

Pic of my car before the strip down began.

i have stoptech. that's a very nice setup at a very affordable price imho, i love it. stops cazy. believe me if you just jump into my car and drive it, you will drive like a jerk indeed. it take ssome learning. and it's much cheaper than others like brembo or ap racing.

i have ap racing on my gs400 which will fit on the sc430 as well. if you talk about options, there are also brembo, endless, rotora. but my suggestion, either stoptech, or if you have money, ap racing or brembo

Is the 4 wheel kit really necessary? I understand that StopTech is known for its braking balance but, and I may be completely mistaken, doesn't the SC430 primarily if not completely use just the front when braking? Please help.

$ 4800 sounds steep. the supra TT front brake kit sells for ~ $900. stoptech calipers look nice, but i am not sure that's worth 5 thousand.

I am not sure what is going on with the StopTech site. They have revamped it recently. StopTech at one point had a 4 corners kit for the SC 430 as well as a front only kit. This front kit is not the same one included in the 4 corners kit. Although they have the same caliper, the pistons are different sizes so that the brake balance is tuned better. The front kit is tuned to work with the OEM rear while the 4 corner kit is tuned to work with each other.

Those are 20s. I plan to order a new set as soon as I get all of the items back in.

The SC430 has a huge front brake bias compared to my GS400. I have TT brakes up front and they work wonders for this car. All for less than $400.00 by shopping around. My current project is a custom Brembo rear setup with LS430 rotors for less than $600.00. I also plan on adjusting the brake bias a tad more to the rear. The front is too much for this car and confuses me at times why it was engineered this way. Problem is rear Brembo's require matching front Brembo's for aesthetic reasons only. So 6 piston front Brembo's will be a March project.
Good thing is that many options are available depending on your budget. TT brakes are the best bang for the buck. I also highly recommend Hawk HPS pads.

Another 4-KIT Option is from Tom's: (but very expensive)

p.s.

@LEE - so if the MKIV TT Front Brakes will fit - then there is a FORMULAR ONE Kit from AP-RACING for around 3.000 USD...

there are on more 4/4 setup for the sc430, but i think soon they will have a 4/2. worth it or not? nop i don't think so unless you want the look, coz' the rear is a 2 pistons and it's not really more powerful than stock

brembo has 6 pots front? i thought they have either 4 or 8. i know they have a 8/4 setup for the sc430 and ls430. either way, from some private info i got, the sc430 should have more rear bias setup coz' of the heavy equipment in the back? that's why with the gs stoptech kits on my sc430 the car stops so far coz' my car is more front bias now

Yep, they are mainly run on Porsche GT's and such. Two sizes-regular ,"RED" as their are called and ,"Big Red" calipers. The 8 pistons are in the back of my mind as they are only $350.00-$400.00 more than the 6 pistons but once again that may place entirely too much bias up front. 6 Pistons should be fine with 4 piston rears as you stated the rear needs a bit more braking.

Dan, some red calipers would really spruce up that black beauty of yours.

What all is involved in the retrofitting the TT brakes on the car? Is it just a direct bolt on for the calipers and rotor, or do you need to fab a bracket?

I installed Stoptechs on my Supra and shipped out my stock calipers less than one week before we picked up the SC (on a whim) for my Mom.
