Cool switched rims now have problems

I replaced my stock 18" rims on my 02 sc430 with 17" donz lucianos and I put on non runflat sumitomo tires, I think they are 245/40s.. I had the TPMS switched from the original rims to these. At first the low pressure light didn't come on but within a few days it was flashing and beeping. Then just the light lit up and no noise. Now it is back to flashing and beeping. All the sumitomo tires are filled with air so I know it is not them. I am not sure what to do, if I should just disconnect it from showing up on the dash or what. Also I when I reach speeds up beyond 40mph the steering shakes violently. I am not sure what to do about that either. I was thinkin maybe my wheels aren't aligned?? Advice from anyone would be appreciated.

As far as the shaking goes, your wheels may be unbalanced and/or out of round or otherwise bent. Assuming they are new, this shouldn't be a problem, but you should take the car in for alignment and a good wheel balancing.

Sounds like a bent wheel, no hub spacer used, or way out of balance. This may have jarred or damaged the sensor as well. Best to take it back to the wheel shop and have them check it out. The possibly the dealer to have the sensors reset.

I put on my new Amistad wheels about a month ago and got some serious steering vibrations at about 60m/hr I then put on the hub rings. It got better, but I still have a bit of vibrating between 60 and 70m/hr. I am hopeing it just needs to be rebalanced and I don't have a warped or defective rim.

Default mine

When my rims first were put on I had some shaking at higher speeds. Had them rebalanced the tires and no problems. Smooth well past 100mph

The reason I switched my rims was because they were bent from these NY streets. I went with a smaller size so the ride would be softer and to ease pothole impact.

Other than bent rims, bad balance....

Is your bore size in the centre of the rim the correct size?

I don't know. I have the Donz Luciano 17", I relied on a local rim shop. They said it had the correct offset.

have had that problem before, balanced the rims and no problem after.

Also after the new TPS sensors were installed did you take them up to 60 PSI to reset the sensors?

Tony,
I don't have the tps sensors installed on these wheels. Amistad does not accomodate the sensors and I didn't think to fix them in flat and use the other air valves for inflation like you said in another post. I thought they would be used to put air in as well so they wouldn't fit. I too like Henry didn't realize this would be in addition to the new valve stems. Maybe I will have them put in, but it is alot of work to have those 275's unmounted from the 10 inch rims
