I just purchased an '02 with 62K miles within the last month. I've had my eye on the car for 2 years so I figured that if I still like it after all that time it was meant to be. So far, I've loved the car!
Except...
...there is a problem with the top. Thankfully, it's not the top itself. Everything looks and sounds perfect as it goes up and down. However, lately, when I close or open the top I get to the end of the procedure and everything goes up or down as normal but then the light on the switch won't go off. When it's closing, the trunk lid will close completely and then I wait 10 seconds while holding down the button and it still won't go off. Then when I drive it thinks the top isn't done closing and it beeps at me.
Sometimes I can put it back in park and hit it again and the light goes off. But sometimes I have to do that 4 or 5 times before it works. And other times it never works and I have to turn the car off, and close the top just to get the light off.
Has anyone else experienced this?
I doubt I'm doing something wrong in the way I'm pushing the button. I would love to find a fix for this instead of bringing it to the dealer for something so simple. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Would that make sense that the same contact wouldn't work for both closing and opening? Does anyone know if something like this exists in the top mechanism and where it might exist?
