I’ve got a rubbing issue with my new wheels. I’m not sure this is rubbing I should expect until the plastic fender wells have worn down or I’m still too low. The wheels are Zone 3s the fronts are 8.5 wide with 245 35 20 the rears are 10.5 wide 285 30 20. The tires are Dunlop Super Max. I’m not sure of the offsets but I got them from D2 so I’m betting they are correct. I’ve got Tein CS coilovers which were setup for my TRD 18s and the car was very low but and I never had any rubbing issues. I had to raise the car just to get the 20s on. I raised it .5” in the front and .75” in the rear. I measured from the bottom thread on the coilover to the locking ring of the bottom spring perch. Using those measuring points the front is now 1.5” the rear is 1.75” I’ve got a 2 finger gap between the top of the wheel and the fender in front and just a little less in the rear. Am I still too low? What height do you folks have your Teins set at?
Thanks

I take a steel yard stick and measure from the ground to the lip all the way around until i get the height's were I want them.
Iam curious what heights people are using , I have the front two clicks out the back need to be turned all the way in.
20' on the rear
will advise on the front

Ride height measured from the ground to the fender lip from those with 20s and no rubbing would be really helpful. That way I'd know if I was getting close.

My Ride height is at 25 1/4 inches from the ground to the bottom of the fender lip both front and back if that helps you...
zero rubbing issues.
zero rubbing issues.

Hey Bill, I know we didnt sell you the suspension stuff, but you puchased wheels from D2 so in the future please call me directly to get advice on this type of stuff!
Give me a call (or tell me what time to call you cell) and I'll talk you throught it, which much easier than doing this stuff on a internet forum.

i don't have measurement from the gnd to the top of wheel well, imho that's pretty hard especially since wheel overall diameters vary so much between wheels setup
anyway, i have 1 finger gap front and 0 in the back. i rub front and back very little bit, only if i hit bad dips on the freeways. but gradually there are holes in the wheel wells and i don't rub that bad anymore now. imho? it's fine, just rub a bit and it will be ok.
from my study (at least my 2 cents), it has to do with
1) overall diameter being 1" overspec. everything is very tight. and the wheel well design is pretty funny where the plastic flaps are not smooth, there are certain areas where there are parts coming out making it more easily for rubbing
2) lowering. my car is so low so i rub. i know if i raise the car up say 0.5" i will rub A LOT less. that was an option, but i won't like the look

I had to raise my front up about .4 inches though in order to get rid of the rubbing, on 20's with 255/35/20 tires the height from the floor to top of fender is about 26.75" it was at about 26.25 and the rubbing was crazy, I raised it up about .4" and the rubbing is barely there now. Its alot of fine tuning to get that rubbing noise out. if you hear the rub when you brake even gently then its prob from the top of the fender well and the car needs to be raised up some more. if its when you turn then get a heat gun and push the fender liner in on the back. thats not that big of a deal. the main thing is the height. your 18's may not have rubbed but 20's are pretty big. I prob spent about 4 or 5 hours using a heat gun trying to fix my fender liner so it wouldnt rub. I finally just raised the car up a little and all my rubbing problems when braking went away.

The rear tires are the issue they are sitting outside the wheel wells. They don't hit at the top of the tread. I was rubbing the letters off sidewall and that was with1.5 fingers of space between the top of the tire and the fender. I raised the rear another .5" so there is no rubbing, but now it looks almost stock so I'll try slowly backing it down. From my original settings I've raised the car 1.5 in the front and 2.75 in the rear to get the tires to fit. Not quite the look I was expecting.

wow what kind of offset you have in the back? it's past the wheel well?! i have 10.5 +30, and that's very botherline already. i do rub VERY VERY little, at the edge of the wheel well, so the corner of the tire will rub.
my 285 are from japan and they are a bit stretched though, so that might help. if your dunlop are kinda meaty, and if the offset is aggressive, maybe that's why you are rubbing?

well you really shouldnt be rubbing up top that much. and on the side walls shouldnt be a problem unless your running an incorrect offset. like rominl has I got 10.5" in the rear with a 285, about 1.7-2 degrees of negative camber zero rubbing issues in the rear. its all in the front. Its got about a +30 offset. the falkens have a pretty tall side wall also. try raising the car in the rear up some
