Kinda bringing up a old post, but I don't think they could ever put that V10 in an LS. It's a F1 spec engine. It revs up and down as fast as a crotch rocket. That engine would be WAYYY too touchy to put in the LS. To keep the luxury and refinement of a LS I think they will stick with the 4.6L v8 or a possible 5.0L later on. Same goes for the SC/GS/IS unless they make some kind of ///M competitor version.

I'll jump in the speculation bandwagon.
- No space for batteries (or anything else) on the SC; no way IMHO.
- With the SC 'face lift', it'll be around for at least 3 more years IMO.
- With today's gas prices likely a bargain in a few years, I doubt a replacement SC430 is likely. It'd sell a lot less than the current model IMO, making it very hard to justify in Lexus's eyes (hope I'm wrong). If there's a new SC, it'll be a 6-cyl in there for sure, and maybe a 4-cyl hybrid will be the hot item. Depends how high gas prices go; only the ultra rich are immune to gas prices. Later guys.

I havent heard anythinf about a SC600h but Have heard of the SC460 and SC500 both having new v8s. the 460 is 380 hp and the 5 liter is supercharged to 450 horses. There will be a Lexus GT which will have a 5 liter V10 simular to that of the BMW M6 but that not an SC at all it's a completely different class of car costing probably more than 100 grand. the SC probably want get the hybrid option why wolud it need it the SC is suppose to be small and agile using it weight as the major muscle to get speedy. the SC probably want ever get an V10 and if it did it would be around year 2020. expect the 460 and 500 and than a completely seperate car called the GT which can compete with F1 cars like ferrari and the top brands maserati, mercedes, bmw and lambo. it will have a 5.0 V10 and be mid engined. the SC cant conpete with SL, 6series stuff yet it just not ready the current 430 model suspension is too relaxed and is slowed when you have to much fun by the traction and stability computers. The SC handling is simular to an mustang adn g35 coupe and other middle priced rearwheel drive coupes. It will be ready to handle the top bimmer and porche once it redesigned though, just need better suspension and more power.

--There is space for the batteries: replace the rear seats with a battery pack and make the SC a "real" two-seater cruiser.

--Competition makes it necessary to evolve much faster than the regular 7-year model age limit. Lexus will be redesigning their cars every 5-6 years from now on.

--I doubt they'll give the SC a V6. Definately for the IS coupe/convertible, but that's like giving the MB SL or BMW 6-Series a V6. These convertibles are "rich man's toys"...

So where am I going to put the groceries when the little trunk at the back is already full ? Even many real 2-seaters now have some storage space behind the seats where you want to put the batteries. I would not want a SC hybrid until they can make much smaller & space efficient batteries . . .

They have 6 cylinder Mercedes SL & BMW 6-series in Europe But I agree we don't need a V6 SC here in N.America. Leave that for the IS convertible.

Perhaps if Lexus gets innovative and hides the batteries:

a) As the seat frame. The seat is a padded chair-shaped battery. You'll always have a seat warmer!

b) As the folding hardtop. The batteries can fold away, or even be a solar-power battery charger?!?!

c) Or as the wheels. Make those batteries recharge with the kinetic force of the brakes; they're as close as you can get them! Hell, why not make the battery packs the brake rotors?!?! The heavy batteries will be closer to the ground for added handling.

Damn, I should be an engineer...

I just hope the SC460 will be the same length as the LS460.

If it be the same length as the LS460, so that be 198" long, which would be 8" longer then the BMW 650. About 2" longer then the Mercedes Benz CL500. Its about 10" longer then the Jaguar XK. It be 23" longer than a Porsche Carrera 4S Cabriolet.

One thing if they did keep the SC460, the same size as the SC430, they should just consider it a 2-seater, which still could compete with the Porsche / Aston Martin Vantage V8. If they dont keep it the same size it be like a 23" increase in the length.

It would have almost the same horsepower as the BMW 650. Almost 75 more horsepower than the CL500. Its almost 75 more power than the XK.

So it could be another 2+2, atleast it would be able to fit 4 people now.

Ifthey do not change the length and just the engine and redesign the car like the LS460 or something, it compete with the Aston Martin Vantage V8.

If we see a hybrid in this, I hope they extend the length of the car a bit, so you dont lose any space, so like 202" similar to the LS460 L / LS600h L. Which would be in Bentley Azure territory pretty much.

The normal petrol version (SC460) probably would start at $80k USD. And the hybrid probably could be like $83k - $85k USD.

So could justify the huge price that people are saying about the Lexus LF, which would be around $100k or more.

Would be interesting to see a photoshopped version of a LS460 just with 2-doors. I just wonder how they would work out the hard-top convertible.

Lexus pushed the envelope with the worlds first production car with 8 speeds, why not extend a coupe/convertible.

I have a feeling Toyota/Lexus, know people want more space in the SC.
