Question Wobbly on Test Drive?? HELP??

I testdrove a new 2006 this afternoon. It was wonderful - but the ride quality was bothering me. The care had vibration in the steering and didn't have that "stuck to the road" feeling. I've been in SC's before - but that might have been in the pre-run-flat-era. The salesman was blaming the tires' inflation. I'm going to head there again tomorrow.

I know it is impossible to describe a ride in words - but does this sound 'normal"??

Thanks.

I owned an `02 SC and now own an `04, and can assert without hesitation that it's the tires. When I purchased my `04 (then new), I had the salesman switch the Michelins I had on my `02 to the `04. The salesman then drove the `04 and told me that he couldn't believe how much better the car rode and handled without the run-flats. This is a fact.

Default Tires

you Know I Have Run Flats On My 06 Sc430 And My Previous Toy Was A 2004 Zo6 Vette. I Do Not See A Big Issue Here. I Know That The Run Flats Are A Lot Stiffer But It's The Nature Of The Beast. My Car Handles Fine.

Now that's interesting - but I just drove a 2006 C6 w/run flats. it was absolutely, perfectly smooth - and it is sitting on run flats. It had the GM, excellent, F55 magnetic suspension.

It can't be just the tires - can it?

ok I had an 05 with runflats for a couple of months and then I got an 06 with runflats and now I have PS2's on my 06.

05 and 06 with runflats are the same. PS2's now they are better

HI!

How smooth is it now? Is it a huge difference?

Was it "rough" beforehand - as if it wasn't holding the road well?

same here i would blame it on the tires too, changing the tires is like making a night and day switch on the car.

but either way though, don't expect to have much road feel, that's lexus and what they are trying to do.

I'll have to agree also...when I changed out the tires when my run-flats wore out at 20k, I switched to the Michelins. Day and night difference: it drives more like a luxury sport car, with a smoother ride and just a better all feel--like there was a better connection between the road the car and the driver (I know it's a BMW cliche but I don't know how else to describe it). The run flats almost seemed like wooden wheels to me. I will never go back to run flats until the technology improves a lot.

Another analogy between RFTs and the Michelins--think dress shoes that have a leather/wood sole versus a rubber sole. The rubber sole is much more comfortable, more agile, and just basically feels better when walking.

A search will bring up many post on this subject.
With runflats the SC is what I would consider a dangerous car, changing lanes over bumpy curves on it's own. Now with standard tires the ride is better, cornering is superior, and no more lane hop'n.

I have the PS2's at 40psi. Henry reccomended this psi on another thread to give the rims some protection from potholes.

P.S. Hey GeeBee did you get the LX mode lip yet? I would love to see some pics of your car.
Steve told me mid June for mine. I ordered it about a month ago.
