Default Anyone have success in installing a rear camera?

I just bought an '03 Amethyst with 15,000 miles - great car.

My last car had a rear camera and I loved it, has anyone tried to add a rear camera and integrate it into th OEM Nav display? I searched the internet and found a few products that looked like they might work:

1. AVIC-100c or VIC-100c by VAIS Technology, or
2. GNET_RGB_X by G-NET Incorporated

Has anyone used these or other integration modules with success on the SC430?

i woudlnt mind getting one too... but only if it was fully integrated and perfect...
ive seen systems that automatically turn the rear camera on when you put it into reverse..

It would not be all too difficult to install. It has come up i my mind as well.
Get a rear camera from a current Lexus (or other)model that will integrate into the body of the rear end next to or above the plate. Cable into a video switcher from Vais and controlled by either a manual switch or connect one to the R on the gear switch.
It just is not at the top of my list of mods though it is one of the simpler of the mods I would like to complete within the next 4 months. As my top is down most of the time this mod settled to the bottom of my mod list.
To take it further I was planning on a complete CCTV setup with 4 cameras for each side continuously recording all of the time.

This Nav-TV system is nice, it supports rear-view cam, DVD, & TV. Requires FM modulator. Local Quote was $800 with CAM, DVD player, & TV tuner.

do you have this installed in your car?
is the fm modulator a wired in type that interrupts the antenna or a off the air type?

I do not own this solution. As for the modulator, I think it is an in-line component. Just got a quote from a local dealer. Still considering this addition.

whats the quote you got? I had some friends that just ordered theirs and it was like tad under $300.

The FM modulator they got was the one through the air waves, of course you can buy the one that plugs directly in, prob cost more

Yo Tony,
$300.00 for the interface
$100.00 for DVD Player
$100.00 for TV Tuner
$100.00 for Rear Cam
$50.00 for FM Modulator
$150.00 for Install
$800.00 estimate for total solution.
Just a general estimate.

Well, I have the components for this next mod. Actually it is much simpler than I had originally thought. Will post once it is installed and operational. Also has DVD input as well though I am not sure if I will use that function.

Got mine with my Avic D1 on my Is300, was like a couple extra bucks and add to have some special switches so I could use the rear view camera for both DVD watching and reverse camera backup!

Will do, this one is pretty simple with an auto switch built in that triggers the screen without any switches for the camera once the car is in reverse. My goal is an OEM like unit. May have it in this weekend.

If you can post pics, that'd be great! So you're saying when you're in reverse the reverse camera shows up on the nav screen? I'd like to do it myself unless it's a PITA to get to the wire for reverse. My gf loves this feature in her previous car so I'm looking forward to this!

Yea man, thats one thing that I thought would be useless until you use it. When my gf went to school in nyc, she had a gx, and lord knows that reverse cam saved our *** a million times with all that parallel parking!
