when I mention this at firestone they just stare at me. I would like a softer ride, tires thats get more than 20,000 miles. what is involved? do I need new rims?

 

You don't need new rims for non-runflat tires. Try searching the SC430 forum using key words "runflats" or "replacing runflats", & you will find many threads discussing this

I & many here have switched to Michelin Pilot Sports A/S or PS2 and are very happy with them, & there are other options as well.

 

I switched to the Michelin PS 2's and immediately felt the difference in handling, ride and noise level. Have had them on for 3k miles now. No comparison between these and the run flats.
