Default Any news on the SC460?

The LS460 is coming. The GS460 is coming. Will the SC460 follow?

My guess is not in this iteration.
If history is any indication, a new SC would surely be a 460, as Lexus has always streamlined its engines.

that's an IS, I think an IS460 will be in the current body style, but OTOH, a SC460 or SC500 will definately be in a new body style . . .

I was told by Dave, a Lexus ,Broker, the 08 will be next generation and much different. His brother -in-law[he told me is big cheese at big SoCal dealership. Says next gen will be to compete with higher end sports cars like Porchiees, etc and start in mid $70 k.

I hope they will go straight to a SC500 for the next generation instead of just a SC460 . . .

Default 08-09 SC will be true 4 PAX convertible

According to my dealership the next iteration of the SC will be a true 4-PAX convertible to compete with MB CLK(I think that's the proper convertible designation). No word about engine size, although I would assume it would be 460. The sports car segment will be handled by the LF-A. In other words the SC will become a 2-door/4-PAX convertible LS.

not a bad idea, get something to compete with the clk and the 6 series. though to me, if i get a convertible today i might not really care that much about rear seats myself.

would love to see the new sc convertible though, together with the lf-a, and also the IS convertible

Only problem is it'll be priced accordingly. At least in my case, I won't have another one, as I hit my self-imposed limit of $65K for a car with this SC already. If it's anything like you guys are talking about, it'll be over 70 grand easy; an SL stripper is close to 6 figures.
I guess Lexus will be filling the affordable hardtop convertible with the IS, right? So a more upscale SC makes sense after all. I'll be keeping mine for a long time, as it won't be another one. Later.

I don't think that's necessary since it's not like the LS will not have a 5.0 litre V8 by spring next year with the LS600hL, so that will still be the Lexus flagship even if there's a SC500 before a LS500.
Also, if there will be a IS500 by fall next year as rumoured, I don't see why there shouldn't be a SC500 for the next generation right from the beginning.
They will be deliberately holding back the next SC if they only go with a SC460 first, that's similar to giving us the GS300 first when they should have been selling the GS350 a year ago like in Japan.

umm.... you are right on andrew, i completely forgot about the is500. and with the ls600hl befing the flagship, the sc500 won't really take over the lexus lineup. but wi am just thinking if they come out with the sc500, damn, the gs guys would be pissed coz' they are left with the gs460

unless..... they change the 460 engine to 500 very soon.... AGAIN, which means ls460 -> ls500 as well?

ok, i am getting dizzy

That's OK, the SC is always higher in the Lexus hiearchy than the GS, it's always more expensive
