Cheap temporary spare for SC430??
I read some where about Acura having a cheap temporary spare that will work on our SC430 and fit in the space where the Lexus temp spare normally goes. Does anyone have any information on part number and if it is the same thing only cheaper?
Thanks
Thanks

if you are just talking about the spare tire itself, you can just get a space saving spare from supra or so, they fit right on as well and they are just as cheap. it's the whole kit with carpet and such that makes it expensive

Thanks, so can I just go to a Toyota dealer and order a Supra tire/wheel - T 145/70R17 and they can get one for me? or can I just go to an Acura dealer and order a 2004 Acura TL MT (6mt) tire/wheel - T 145/70R17 and it will bolt right on?? I don't care what the trunk looks like as long as I can securely bungy it in place and I will then be able to have a spare even though I am losing a little trunk space, no big deal.

You can get the wheel and tire only from Lexus for just over $200.00. I can't imagine that they come much less than that, and you know you have the right wheel.
They have a "spare tire kit" which includes that plus a revised floor mat and a cover for the tire and some other stuff, but you don't need that, and the "Kit" costs about 7 or $800. For occasional use, you don't really need all that extra stuff, which is just window dressing. (Although I still don't know what's wrong with dressing a window.)
I got the wheel/tire and it fits snugly into the space designed for the tire, but you have to take out the floor mat. I cut a piece of masonite and used some spray adhesive to glue a grey carped remnant to it for that custom look. That cost me $5.00 more.
So now, when I hit the road, I can add the spare tire in about 90 seconds.
Works for me. Let's hope I never have to use it.

The only thing I ever found on eBay were a few of the full "kits," which were much more expensive than just getting the tire and wheel.
As I mentioned above, my dealer sold me a tire mounted on the wheel ready for use for just over $200.00, which is less than those items on the list posted above.
However, the dealer's cost for the other "trim" items (wheel cover, carpeted trunk cover, etc) were much more, so I passed on that stuff and made my own, since I only use the spare on road trips anyway, when the top is up and I still have plenty of room in the trunk.

Well I'm getting the wheel/tire mounted from the dealer. I'll just sit it in the slot and bungee it if needed. My dealer is giving me a deal, only $384 plus tax I am running P Zeros and I don't want to wait for Lexus to show up if I have a flat. I want to be able to put on the spare and drive home. I guess I will also throw a trap in the trunk so if I have to transport the old tire I don't have to put it on the leather back seat. Only one dealer in KC area so it is a big hassle to shop them.

Kind of a stupid question, but haven't seen it addressed:
Do you realize that your huge flat wheel/tire would completely fill up your trunk? And does a 19" or 20" wheel fit AT ALL??
And finally, do you guys carry a blanket or something for not messing up your pristine carpeting with a dirty flat?? Just curious.

I always keep a pair of cotten gloves in the car, because my hands are more important than my carpet, but when I travel with the spare, I just throw a heavy weight plastic bag designed for yard waste. This way I can transport the tire in the trunk or in the back seat without messing up the car, my hands or my hair.

Let me get this straight...
So any model year Supra (including TT) spare wheel/tire will fit on a sc430? I'd like to have a backup just in case I go on a long distance trip. I consider anything more than a couple hours of driving a long distance trip, lol.

Are you saying that a spare you bought from Nissan that would fit a 2006 350Z 6speed coupe fits your SC430 as a useable spare? If this is true this solution should be posted as a sticky since the Lexus spare costs around $400.

The Lexus SC spare does not cost around $400.00.
Lexus sells a "kit" that includes a special cover to match the carpet in the trunk, a new trunk insert with a cutout to allow the tire to sit in the concave cutout while covering the rest of the trunk, some bumpers and clamps to hold the spare in place, etc. I bought a Lexus spare from the dealer just by itself without the rest of the "kit," and I think it was closer to 200 than 400.

Iunno how much the lexus spare is. I know that the entire spare kit with mounts, floor mat and tire is $650 though.
