Question Im looking for a sc430 help me out on some info

HEY all
WEll im looking to get a new(used) car and i decided to start looking for a sc430 (2002-2003)

now im wondering was are the pros and cons of a sc430(2002-2003) car compared to My 1998 gs400 lexus and how do you like the car if you have switched from a gs400-430 to this car ?

what i know so far
-rear seats are usless unlike my gs400
-trunk space is almost none with top down

what i also would like to know is
1.what is the true horse power on this car at the rear wheels ?
2.can you get any more power from the car with any mods or is it like my gs400
3.what if any problems do these cars have
4.what to look out for when getting one
5.anyone have pics of the trunk with the top up
6.what size is the rear sub
7.can the audio system amp be upgraded in any way as im thinking of using the Rockford Fosgate 3SIXTY.1 or Rockford Fosgate 3SIXTY.2 to upgrade the amp

thanks all !

I don't know about usless, but the back seats are considered by many to be useless. The archives answer many if not all of your other questions.

A search (is it working now?) will give you answers to everything you asked. Here are some quickie replies. I also went from a GS4 to the SC like many here.

what i also would like to know is
1.what is the true horse power on this car at the rear wheels ? Same as the GS430 and varies from car to car and the dyno utizlied but around 236rwhp.

2.can you get any more power from the car with any mods or is it like my gs400. Well, it is like the GS400/430 as the same mods apply. SRT intake, 3.76/3.92/4.10 gear/LSD, TC, headers (big jump in TQ)

3.what if any problems do these cars have (very very minor, early models had some noises here and there)

4.what to look out for when getting one (same as any other car) Top condition, Top lines up, all electronics working)

5.anyone have pics of the trunk with the top up. Not me but plenty of room with the top up.

6.what size is the rear sub. I believe 6 or 8". Tony here upgraded his sub along with his amp and reported positive things about it. Conduct a search here.
7.can the audio system amp be upgraded in

lee has answered most so i wont repeat. sub is 8"

bottom line is this car is virtually the same as gs430 drivetrain wise, so if you can make the gs430 faste, you can make this too.

this car is definitely quieter than the gs too i have to add

Good question, Personally I dont see why it wouldnt. And your aftermarket should not be an issue. Not that I'm the most informative guy in this regard but I'm sure others will chime in. And yeah man please get the SC. It's not even funny you will love it. Good luck in your decision. I was there last winter

All of your basic technical questions have been answered but let me put my two cents in. I just went from a 2001 GS430, which I was quite fond of, to a 2004 SC430 and boy, oh boy is it a different animal. The GS is a very nice car, the SC is so much more fun. It's true that space is an issue but it's not all that bad. I spend a great deal of time with the top down and can still pack groceries in trunk or overflow into the back seat. Take my word that it's worth the hassle!

Nope, GS430 and SC430 share the same alternator, but the GS400 is different. I had a spare GS400 alternator that I sold after i sold my GS. Wish it did work.

To add, ingress and egress is much much better in the GS vs the SC with it's rather large doors-it's a 2 door afterall.
I did like the seating position in the GS vs the SC.
Still, I would not go back to a GS unless it was a 2nd car.
The SC is a driving ,"EXPERIENCE". The GS just drives.
