Smile Member Introduction

Hello Fellas,

Long time member, first time poster. I have been coming to this site ever since I got my first Lexus (1993 GS300). This site is the most comprehensive and informative site I've seen. I appreciate the information in this particular forum because I purchased my 02 SC in Feb. and the improvements I've made to this car were due directly to the information I've read here. I would especially like to thank the moderators who seem to sincerely want to help anyone with an issue. And this group seems to be pretty close-knit which is great. Would like to show you a couple of shots of my car, but the files are very big; like 14mb.

Welcome, blksc430 ...

I don't know what imaging apps you have on your PC, but one of the fastest and handiest is IrfanView. It can display almost every still image format and several video formats. You can use it to resize, lighten/darken, flip, rotate, etc. still images.

Find it and download it from:
http://www.irfanview.com/

Oh yeah ... it's free, but if you use it a lot and like it, you can always donate a few bucks to its owner, Irfan Skiljan.

Other than using his program frequently, I have no relationship, financial or otherwise, with Mr. Skiljan.

Thanks fellas. I tried to download some pics last night. However, for some reason I was not successful. I will try again. I guess my forum name is a little decieving. The name is a combination of my 1999 black GS300 that I traded in for my SC which is blue. I really miss that car. My wife has a pearl white 1993 GS300. That was the first Lexus we bought and we still have that.

nice color on the car. looks like 20's w/ a drop.
I can brush my teeth and comb my hair w/ those...
A nice low profile kit will definitely fill up the bottom gap of the car since the rims are bold and make a statement.

Very nice color and choice of rims. I like the bling. Deep dish and shiny..

Notice the chrome side strips on the rear view mirrors. They don't stand out as much on white and silver SC430's, but looking at that color more carefully, it sure does look really nice.
The black, red and darker colors has a nice contrast as well.

The lines of this car does not get boring staring at it in person and from the pictures as well.

Nice work there.

That's some monsta wheels! Did you use the oem tire pressure monitoring system? If so, how's it attached?...metal straps/bands or mounts in oem style (valve stem)?

Thanks for the wheel compliment. On most of the sc's I see on this forum, they usually have the spoked rims and they all look good but I like a more full faced rim myself. The wheels are 20's, x8.5 front and x10 rear. It has not been lowered although I have been considering it. However, I keep hearing that it can mess up the ride so if you guys have any suggestions I would appreciate it. I have been reading this forum but am a little confused as to making a choice regarding what would be the best way to do this without destroying the ride quality. I did not retain the tire pressure monitoring system. As a matter of fact, I followed the instructions on this forum as to how to disable it. I guess I'm from the old school and feel more comfortable checking tire pressures myself.

Well, if you're like my gf & I wanting a lowered stance while having a smooth ride (obviously depending on which coilovers) I'd recommend getting coilovers (shocks & springs) such as Tein CS or D2 (I think that's the company name). If you just get springs, it's going to be a harsher ride since the oem shocks are not designed for them. Been there done that on 2 different cars & I don't recommend it unless it's a temp. solution. It'll eventually lead to wearing out your oem shocks quicker (harsher & more bouncy ride) thus having them replaced sooner. On the other hand, if you can't justify the cost of coilovers ($1100+) then consider springs ($150+) temporarily as long you don't mind a harsher/stiffer ride (compared to coilovers that is). Regardless which way you go, just remember to make sure it doesn't rub & get an alignment soon afterwards. Hope that helps!
