Default Ahhhhhhhh I scratched my armrest!

Damn damn damn... I was in a rush and I just pulled my duffle bag from the passenger floor over to the driver side and there it went, a scratch on the leather on my armrest. I keep staring at it, heartbroken.... Is there anything I can do? I've heard of leather repair kits and whatnot, I used some cleaner and conditioner on it and it just made it even more obvious... i took a pic with my camera phone, didnt come out to well... HELP!

I had to have the climate/information screen replaced on my `02 and `04 SC430s and, both times, when the dealer did the work they scratched the leather that framed the screen. Fortunately, they had someone on staff who was expert at covering/repairing scratches on leather. You really could not see the scratches when they finished. So, check with your dealer. Most dealers have someone with whom they contract to do this kind of work. This sort of occurrence is more common than you may think.

Good luck!

$400 just for that piece of leather is rather pricey if you ask me . . .

"Pricey" is what they said when you bought the car.

You have three choices.

Leave it the way it is.

Get a professional to repair it.

Replace it.

Pick one and move on.

I think I will run it by the dealership the next time I am in Houston and see what they can do for me... After buffing it with microsuede and leather conditioner, its no longer rough at all, but can be noticed if stared at... and its definitely not $400 bad. I'll let y'all know what the dealer says.

not just the leather, it's the whole armrest assembly with the fist layer tray as well.

that's the "smallest" package you can get i believe

Default how to buy replacement armrest at decent price

Hi there,
I scratched my armrest up a couple months ago and later worsened it terribly by trying to "rub it out'. I was able to buy a brand new replacement armrest at park place lexus plano by using the link below: (cut and paste it into your browser).
http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...=1&catalogid=2
Funny, I was really upset when I destroyed the armrest but fortunately it only costs about $200 bucks (no tax, free shipping) if you order from this site. I also did the install myself in about 15 minutes (it's real easy but you could email me questions if you have any, my local lexus dealer wanted to charge me $100 just for the labor). Now I have a brand new armrest with perfectly new leather, it's great (2004 sc430 forest green/saddle interior). Instead of wasting your time trying to find the part yourself, just call the toll free number and tell them you're buying online and they include in about 15-20% discount. Otherwise you can find the part yourself under console-armrest assay-without cellphone...then pick your color leather. Go for it, it's easy. Write back if any more questions. I'd do the replacement, they'll probably charge you about the same to have a professional fix the leather and it won't be perfect.

$200 is more like it... I will give it a couple of days and if its still annoying me, I will order a new replacement... Thanks for the response!!!

As you are contemplating a replacement anyway, try a little "Connolly Hide Care" on it, applied with bare hands. Can't hurt.

day 2 and i am still aggrivated looking at it...

ideally, before i spring a couple hundred to get it replaced, i would like to see if theres anything i can use to conceal it... the leather is not ripped, but it is scratched lightly and if i could just cover the tiny black marks from the undercover, i think i could live with it... it's still smooth to the touch and isn't that bad... is there any type of concealer anyone has any experience with? i read about Connolly Hide Care items, looks like a cleaner.... i want something to cover this with!!!

That scratch can easily be fixed by a professional for roughly $75.
