Time for the no B.S. truth on 0-60 !!!
O.K. Folks, It's time to settle the myth on the ACTUAL 0-60 time is on the SC430. Lexus has always claimed that on a good day in a tailwind in a cool climate during the solar eclipse of the Brugomby new year at tea time, that the SC does it in 5.9 seconds. The car mag's produce #'s from 6.6 (Car and Driver) down to 6.2 (Motor Trend) and they even sometimes change their mind throughout the years on the same model. Now, all of us have a series of variables that hinder these #'s like wheel circumference, added wieght from cosmetic mods , engine mods themselves like intakes, exhaust , bla, bla, bla.
So I pose this query, what the hell does YOUR SC do? Does it achieve the Lexus claimed 5.9? The 6.6 Car and Driver effort? Do you have a good apple or a bad lemon? Post your opinions, experience, or results. Let the 0-60 times fly!!!

Here is a post that will generate many opinions and much false factual data.
0-60 means very little. Never has.
It just means how long does it take to go from 0-60. Time to speed, not time to distance which is what really counts.
Many people like to equate the 0-60 term to relate to how quick/fast a car is. 0-60 is a term used by brainwashed Americans to differentiate themselves from other countries. At least that is what those across the pond say about us over here and to a degree they are correct.
Well, actually the term came from how fast can the car get to the speed limit years back.
Take the SC430/GS430,etc....
Let's just say the 0-60 is 10.00 seconds just for the hell of it.
Now let's put in an LSD/3.76 gear unit.
Guess what? The car is MUCH quicker than a stock car yet the 0-60 is the SAME. Why? One ,because there is an extra gear shift before 60.
Reminds me of a time when a old acquaintance I used to know years back (he was a real prize) used to brag that his POS Jeep could hit 0-60 in 4 seconds flat every time. Well , no *&^*&^, he is doing it in the dirt! My SC could probably hit 0-60 in 3 seconds in the dirt. There is no traction so the tires will just spin freely. Car is not going anywhere but boy that 0-60 time is looking mighty good.
1/4 mile is where it is at.
Now to directly answer the question, I have seen quotes of GS400s running 6.6 seconds as well. I have also seen a GS430 quoted as 13.7 in the 1/4. Probably an estimate. It all depends on temperature, altitude, driver, ECU learning curve, gas, how much gas, testing equipment weight, tires, air pressure, weight of driver, conditions of the road, etc......The same reason why the new Eclipse V6 has produced 0-60 numbers from 5.7-6.7 in various magazines.

OK, OK, we know the scientific version of where acceleration and velocity i.e. work over time/horse power come from, but I just meant what is each drivers results taking in each of their unique variables into consideration.
For instance, In Mammoth at valley level, my accelerometer spit out a 5.8 (this of course was in a 37 degree outside temp!) While on the flipside, in Vegas last summer it clocked a miserable 6.9 (this was in 114 degree outside temp!) I average about 6.0-6.1 where I live (about 70 degrees).
So did any of your mods actually help from stock?

Sorry, I rant on sometimes man.
Your times seem about right given the conditions.
I would say a 6.2 0-60 is a safe average for this car.
But yes, my mods helped immensely with my times. I plan on getting down to TM within weeks for a TC install. That will really help things out as well. Anyone down for some lunch while I am down there?

And you will care when there's not enough get-up. The SC has juuuuuust enough to be satisfying but no one want's all show and no go. Lee's right you need all the help you can get, and that's o.k.!
