I was looking at the 30K Miles service procedure, and It does have a lot of service on it......but I may get away with just paying
(individual prices)
for just these three services done and save myself around $300.00.
What do you you all think?
(the service i would pay for only are)
1. Transmission fluid flush ~$110,00
2. Differential fluid flush ~ $100.00
3. Radiator fluid flush ~ $75.00
and maybe a brake line fluid flush....?????
I think 600.00 dollars may be asking too much?

Hi there,
I too am just about to pass the 30,000 mile point. I once saw a Lexus service bulletin pamphlet that reported this service check should run about $450. What should I really expect it to cost? I figure, if I need new brakes or any routine similar replaced, I could always take it somewhere else after the basic diagnostics are done. How much do you think they'll try to get out of me? I remember when it was time to replace the tires, they wanted $2200 to replace the runflats. I ordered from tire rack and went to a local tire shop and saved about $1000. Any suggestions out there to save a few bucks. I'm already planing to make the investment in a clear bra next month (and maybe a front paint job to clean things up beforehand) so it'd be nice not to blow a big chunk of change this month too.

The brake fluid should be changed.
Three drain and fills on the transmission, a couple of hundred miles apart, rather than a flush.
Power steering fluid exchanged.
The differential is drained and refilled.
The front and rear suspensions inspected.
The electrical and charging systems checked for correct operation.
Just to name a few of the services ...

I just did my 30k mile service 2 weeks ago, at a cost of $399.95 in Austin, TX. The dealer performed all the tasks as stated in the SC 430 maintanance manual, so there wasn't any deviation as to what was supposed to be done on the car. I think the price was pretty reasonable and on par with other regular Japanese-make vehicles.

For about 15 years I have always had by 15, 30, 60,000 etc services done at the dealer's shop, even though it can get expensive. Remember that part of this is having experienced service techs look over everything -- these guys have seen a lot of cars like yours, and they know the soft spots. Every once in a while they will find something that needs attention.
Although I can't prove that the two are related, I have never had any of my Lexus cars break down on me on the road or out of town (or in town, for that matter).
