why on a 67k car do the stock rims frankly...suck?

I agree they are not very good for a car this price. But if you look at the standard stock rims on a $85K+ W220 Mercedes S500, they're even worse . . .
Lexus should definitely offer more(& better) choices for rims from the factory though . . .

They suck to you and I because we do not like them. Simple as that. Many really do like the stock rims. I am not one of them and think that they should sit flush and Lexus should offer other styles but not many manufacturers do.
Besides in this day of the ,"Walmart Give Me Give Me I am all Great Consumer Mentality " I can just see idiot consumers going back and wanting the dealer to switch the rims out for the ,"other ones" and then back and then back,etc....
They would rather just not deal with it. Many aftermarket wheels exist for the enthusiast anyhow.

You probably won't get much disagreement on CL. What enthusiasts think and what the general consumer think, however, are different. Most are probably just fine with the stock rims. I see plenty of stock SC430s driving around.
In most instances, even when dealers offer choices, they did not look and fit all that great either. For people like us, aftermarket fitment and styles are the only way to go anyway.

I like them. I don't love them, but I like them...
Most buyers of the SC are actually pretty conservative rich people, so they're "stylish" enough to make a statement, but "subtle" enough to not be too outrageous.
Most people posting on this forum are not as conservative as most buyers of the SC out there...

This was my big hold out against this car for so long since most of the SC I see here in South Florida have the stock wheels (older pie pan and new dull gray 5 spoke). Even the chrome versions just help a little. I forget what the optional wheels that my 2007 has from Lexus are called (Not the G-Spider). I will find the name on the window sticker and post a picture after I wash her this weekend. They are multi spoke (guessing about 19-20) bright finish that has a coating between the spoke that is similar to the first generation IS300 wheels (like the BMW graphite). I think they look good and were a $1375.00 option that is now covered in the warranty. The SC coming into JM Lexus here in South Florida are about 50/50 mix between stock and these wheels.

Since I can't get the photo upload on the site to work here are the new Tourmoline Wheel option that is on my 2007. About half of the 2007 coming into JM lexus in South Florida have these installed. The graphite finish inside the spokes is very resistant to brake dust and they stay very clean between washings. I will get better pictures soon.
