Lexus SC 430 MPG: Real World Numbers
#46
my best ever was 37.4 through 350 miles of highway travel at about 50 mph because the top was down and my wife was getting uncomfortable with the wind at higher speeds. Faced with a choice between driving slow or putting the top up, I decided to slow down. The mileage reported by the trip computer was so good I didn't trust it, but validating with some quick math at the pump proved it accurate.
I average 21 with my usual 70/30 mix of hwy and city, it drops to around 16 when I have occasional leadfootitis.

80% highway and 20% local.
On ECT power and average driving style. So far 21.7 mpg calculated on last tank of gas and the computer shows 19.5 mpg overall.
How do you reset the computer mpg after gas fill?

I get about 18-18.5 mpg with 30% Hwy and 70% city. Got some uphill downhill locations on my usual route to work or I might do better.
Been using synthetic soon after I got the car so I really don't know if mpgs improved or not. But I know it makes me feel better and I don't have to do oil changes that often.

As my daily driver, I get 20-21 around town...expressway 25-26...last weekend on a 45mph canopy road top down using cruise control for about 40 miles I got 28! Considering I've recently come from driving a 15 mpg FJ Cruiser I have no complaints

Mpg 12 or 13 in DC/Nova
Swear to God...the license plate on my car reads "14 MPG".
I get 13-14 MPG in the city but, here's the thing; I'm talking about TRUE city driving. Downtown Washington DC during rush hour...in the morning and in the evening. Sitting at a light at idle...and watching that light change from red, to green, to yellow, to red, to green, to yellow to red, to green...OK, now I can go through the intersection! True stop-and-go driving. Not just driving from light to light, creeping from light to light. It can be downright awful sometimes.
The top down and the ML stereo up makes it tolerable though. And, the seats are very comfy to just sit in.
On the highway, I get like 25-26 MPG.
Also, how you drive it is obviously a big factor. I keep the ECT switch in "Power" mode always and, I'm not afraid to get on it. I tend to manually put it into a lower gear to improve the throttle response...makes the car a lot more "peppy"...then upshift as needed. All of these factors affect the MPG I know but, what the hell, you only live once.

mpg.
I saw a similar thread on other website.
Some say they have 17.9mpg/city or 22.9/combination city and highway.
Share your actual MPG with other SC 430 owners here if you don't think this thread is too boring.
When I look at my computer, it shows....
I am interested in what you guys' number are especially Pearlpower's.
I heard that he got a lead foot like I do.
