I made the decision to move on a couple of weeks ago. I understand the concept of "caveat emptor" and I understand accepting responsibility for my own actions. I think the sales rep I had needs to understand that his job is more than just getting a car delivered no matter what. I'm not going to write a diatribe. I have already made my opinion know.
This nightmare is over for me. Again thanks to all the suggestions, etc.
I presume this closes this thread.

I had some luck with a body shop which the dealership over here uses for their Lexus paint jobs. This shop only does Lexus and BMW. I have a 2002 with the white pearlized paint. I think the official name is white crystal gold (?). In any event, needed to have a door painted. They did a great job with it! I scruitinized it pretty hard, and it looks good. It does look like the sparkly clear coat step after the base white coat would be difficult to incorporate.
On the other hand, I also have the two bottles of touch up paint for rock chips (one white base coat and the other a translucent type of sparkly clear coat). The rock chip touch up which I have tried looks totally bad
Better off just going with the white base touch up paint and not attempting the clear coat process. Then again, my handy work pretty good at night !
