I'd like your opinion on buying this '02 SC430!
Hi! I'm new to this forum, and to the Lexus world. I now drive a BMW Z3, and it has been VERY expensive to maintain in the past few years, though it is 10 years old and I have put 135,000 miles on it. I have an sudden opportunity to buy an '02 SC 430 for $24,000, when I have been looking at a new Honda Civic instead. These cars are at opposite ends of the spectrum, obviously. Anyway, is $24K a good deal on the '02 SC 430, do you think? Would you buy the Lexus or the new Honda for $3K less?
Thanks SO much!

As long as the vehicle checks out, the price is very good.
Trying to decide between the two.....does the Lexus have a warranty? Granted it is the most reliable car made for the past few years but things still can happen.
Also ask yourself if you prefer to blend in like any Civic would or really stand out as the SC430 no doubt does. They are worlds apart.
Also ask yourself if while driving the Civic around, what would go through your mind when you see an SC430 in front of you?
Let us know and welcome to your first post.

Thanks so much for your help!
WOW, 6 replies in just a few hours! You people are SERIOUS about your Lexii (is that the plural of Lexus?) This SC430 has 60,000 miles on it (I'm so sorry I left that out), and the title is clean. It's been well taken care of, I know, because I've worked for the guy who owns it since he bought it. It has 4 new tires too. Please write back and tell me if you think it's a thumbs-up deal or not! I have to give him an answer by tomorrow. The more I think about it, the greater the Lexus lure is...

I got 45K miles on my '03 and I baby this thing more than (if I had a g/f or wife). Plus, it's been problem free. So for an '02 w/ 60K which is just right for a used SC430 and the right kind of miles on it for $24K, your riding experience in this thing will never be the same if you've driven 2 door/4 door cars currently or in the past. It's completely different.
Your TX brothers/sisters will chime in and concur to that fact.
The folks here are SERIOUS about their cars, especially in this SC430 forum.

For 24K I think it is a great deal. 60k miles on a 02 sc430 seems pretty reasonable especially if you personally know the owner- I would go for it.
Or... maybe dont limit your options to the civic and the lexus. There are so many great deals out there. Good luck!

$24K ... An 02 from a dealer in the UK costs more than £24,000 thats nearly $48,000.
You guys in the US seem to get incredible prices...
Go for it you wont regret it My car is totally faultless.

That is a great deal. As long as he took care of it you will not regret it. The SC430 is the ultimate luxury convertible and I love mine. The only downfall I see is that it could use 400hp instead of 300hp.....
