Default Daytime Running Lights (DRL) disable (LPS/C-Best)

Hi - will be taking my car in to Lexus Carlsbad on Wednesday and am hoping to have the Daytime Running Lights disabled. Previous attempts to have it done there and at Kearny Mesa Lexus have resulted in a disappointing "it's impossible", "we aren't allowed to", "we have to call headquarters", etc.

I asked them today over the phone to start doing some research and they were pretty much unwilling.

Does anyone know _exactly_ what needs to be asked for, presented as documentation, who to call, etc to get this done? Forum searches result in various successes and failures in getting this done, and a homemade LPS chart, but nothing deterministic or official.

I don't even want to think about what a hassle trying to get anything done about the leather wear is going to be ;(

Any help in advance is greatly appreciated. Hope you're all having a great new year.

I had mine done before taking delivery, they were hesitant until I said I'd refuse the car without them disabled. Suddenly they figured it out. Only can be done by technician with computer (C-Best), can't be done by pulling fuse.
Good luck

Question?
Why do you all want to disable DRL?

B/c I see no benefit of it during the daytime where I live. Speaking of which, I need to have the dealership disable it next time I get an oil change.

Not to answer a question with a question, but what problem does it solve? As far as I can tell, none. If I thought for a moment they made the world safer for anyone I'd want to leave them as-is.

Standard disclaimer as always -- I'm not a "car person" and would rather not own one.

No such luck, was told factory/NTSB will not allow them to disable them, blah blah blah.

Anyone know of a place around San Diego where someone will handle business for a reasonable fee?

Thanks again ...
