"i know SC430 is not as fun to drive "........you're kidding me, right?
Define your definition of "fun"?
Have you test driven a SC430 yet?
If so, then I apologize.
If not, then the folks here will tell you how they feel.
I can feel it....Here comes the onslaught......

guys, please be considerate to members trying to come here to ask questions. we don't know their definitions of funs anyway
i will be honest. if you talk about speed, handling, drivability, etc... the is350 is tons more fun than the sc430. any day. i drove that car and that's one amazing machine. very fast (faster than sc430 for sure) and handles very good. the sc430 just isn't sport enough to match that.
however, which car i would choose between the two? sc430 any day. the class is totally different. the sc430 turns heads left and right. it's very slick the way i see it, very special. and of course the hard top is something you can't even dream about in the is350
so it depends on what you want from your car. you want a driver car? i might be more inclined towards the is350. if you want at least some rear space, for sure the is350. if you want the status/class or the cool factor, the sc430 wins by a mile

Definitely 2 different class category cars. The 2nd Gen. IS is compact, stable and very good in acceleration. It's nimble and quick. No doubt about that especially when modified even more to the owner's specification.
I've organized an 2nd Gen. IS meet last year and was glad to see the owners enjoyed their purchase from their smiles on their faces.
However, the SC430 is comparable to achieving those factors such as handling, speed, acceleration given the aftermarket parts/accessories.
I do respect the 2nd Gen. IS and it's a major leap forward from the IS300 to create that "fun" factor for those owners. It's a very nicely lined compact sports sedan especially on windy roads.
I think each owner of any make/model will have their own definiton of "fun".
But I think this person who started this thread is asking current 2nd GEN IS owners and SC430 owners who have both to find out if there's any major difference in the two. He/She already has the IS350 and has already felt the "fun" in driving it. But maybe this person needs to really test out a SC430 and see if it's more "fun".
Regardless of the speed, acceleration, handling, I'll take the SC430 w/out even thinking about it in a heartbeat. Why? Because, it's a hard-top drop-top, head-turner, elegant interior and cool.

I don't own an IS350, but I have a G35 coupe 6 speed manual which is an even sportier drive than the IS350 & thus more "fun" to some people.
But to me, the SC430 & the G35 coupe are fun & enjoyable in their own ways, but I can definately say the SC430 is a class above the G35 coupe & the IS350.
Let's say this is an apples to orange comparison between the IS350 & the SC430, it's really what kind of car you prefer to own at this point in time, . . . of course it's the best if you can have both

Everyone here gives a very fair accessment of both the IS350 and the SC430 and I can't really add anything (objectively speaking) more. My personal experience was: I arrived at the dealership more or less decided on the SC (what a gorgeous looking car!). Then got curious with the IS350, took it out for a spin and was very impressed with all the above-mentioned attributes, could not decide for a week, did some soul searching, and ultimately bought the SC430 for its elegant, sexy, classy look, and all those as mentioned above by the guys, no regret.

Thanks for all the replies guys!!! Main fun factor from what i meant was accelaration, speed, handling!!! My friend has a GS430 and another one own a GS400, but IS350 is definitely alot more quicker and i find it alot more fun to drive. I guess i just have to test drive a SC430 and find out.

The SC430 can be made to handle better than the GS4 series based on the fact that the weight distribution is better.
See, long ago I chose this car over the 911Cab and M3cab. Both great cars and are fast, but one cannot make those cars stylish, classy, or luxurious. The IS is already a near luxury car with the other attributes built in that you care about. It is not close to being classy or stylish but both terms are subjective anyhow. Also as you know the IS350 gets little to no attention if that matters. The SC430 gets loads on attention good or bad. Some are not comfortable with that. I care less myself and find some occurrences amusing such as the many compliments.
The SC430 can be made fast; it just depends on your priorities and how much $$$ it takes to meet your needs/wants. I went from a 500+hp supercharged GS400(470hp for daily use) to the SC430 and do not regret it one tiny single bit.

Another car that I've always thought was "fun" in terms of what you're looking for is PORSCHE.
The upper end like the 911 or the middle end like the Boxter/Cayman.
I believe it's got all those "fun" factors that you're looking for.
