I started with the Toyota Camry 7 yrs ago. My first purchase of anything Japanese.... Once you cross over to quality and reliability, there is no turning back! I has since owned a '93 GS300, a "98 GS400, and now, in my mind the ultimate ride, the SC430 this past weekend.

I paid for a 2002 SC430. I have been looking at posts over the weekend in CL. I remember seeing somewhere an explanation of the VIN number and what the numbers mean. My last six digits are "20030540"

Does that indicate I bought the 540th SC430 built in 2003???

I am ready to jump for joy if that is true, but I would appreciate any confirmation on this.

Also, I am getting error code 3 on the cd system. Is it true that I might be able to use tweezers and pull the stuck cd out?

One more thing. Is there a post anywhere that shows how to pull the Mark Levinson system out?

I don't know how they numer the VIN, but it shouldn't be a 2002 if it was made in 2003, right?
You can check the label on the quarter panel of driver's side to see when it was made.

congrat's on your '02. It's a great ride and I'm sure you will feel even younger and younger as you pop the top up and down when it's sunny and impress a lot of people.

It is an 02, read back the last eight, the 8th # is a 2

Thanks for the responses. I do not have the title yet, but I did read the door sticker, and the top line had " 05/02" which agrees with what D-MAN63 stated. Hey, I am not upset...... how could anyone own this awesome car and be upset?

Now, the 2nd part.... any links showing how to pull the CD Player out? The screen says there are 6 cd's stuck inside. Everything else works except the cd part... nice sound!
