SC430 wheel options
I am proud to say that my SC430 in Midnight Pine and Saddle
(with all options) will be here by the end of the month.
I am going to get the gold package (front center and rear
emblems) -- I think it'll look good with the green. I have it
with my '93 SC400 in Jade. Opinions are welcome and respected,
but I think my mind's made up. Personally, I think I'll pass on
the gold exhaust tips -- a bit much (gawdy).
My question is about the wheels (according to the subject .
I'm going to have them chromed, and I'd like to have the center emblems gold.
I've gotten some weird pricing from the dealer.
They're saying $330 for chroming the wheels, and another $300
to have the center sections chromed & gold emblem. ???
I'm sure this has got to be wrong. Has anyone else had their
SC430 wheels chromed w/ gold emblems? How much did you
pay? Who did the work (i.e. was it not the dealer?).
I haven't seen any 3rd party wheels that aren't "spoked out,"
with too much air. I like the solid look the factory wheels have
for this car -- not too flashy, and I hear it's good for noise control.
For a solid wheel, the LS430's chrome wheels are really nice,
but they're only in 17" size (bummer). If you have any additional
recommendations, I'd appreciate it. (with links, please)
Lastly, the dealer has Huper Optik clear window tint. The demo
was pretty sweet -- cut out the heat almost completely!
Thanks in advance.

LIke you, I originally Ordered my SC in the "Racing Green" Color, but upon closer observation, realized that there was SO much Chrome Highlights everywhwere, that my Gold Trim idea might make it look to cheesy, trying to mix in the Gold with the Green, and have all of that darn Chrome trying to steal your eye's attention.
At that point, I changed my Order back to the Black, to placate the Chrome, and am having the Rear Deck Lid's Insigma removed, and then Gold Plating just the Two L's on the Car, and the Four on the OEM Wheels, along with the ALlen Hex Nuts. Get your Parts Manager to Order all of the Gold Trim stuff from Lexus - it's put on under better Factory Conditions.
