i just bought an 02 sc430 and am thinking about doing the same thing. you can have a FM modulator hard wired into your stereo. basically, it connects to your antena input and gives very good sound quality. the other option i was thinking about is crutchfield lists a bluetooth transmitter as being compatible. the only thing is i'm not sure if the 02 has bluetooth built in. if it does, it'd be a digital signal, so it should have excellent sound quality. but i want to make sure that the stereo has bluetooth before i buy it.

Welcome aboard. There are several threads already on this. Do a search for ipod in this forum. I just completed one recently but many methods are already posted.

FM modulator hard wired into your stereo and bluetooth are both pretty bad soundquality. Ive bought the Harman Kardon Drive + Play and Vaistech SLU kit (for sc430 2002). Today ill install it and put up some pictures/instructions on how to do it urself

James, I've looked at the SLU, looks like it is supported but listed as "special". Which function will you have to press in order to have it work? there is no MD or line in function on 02 ML headunit.

Andrew,
Again, do yourself a favor and SEARCH. Great many posts on this subject already. Just about everything you want to know has already been asked and answered. But to make it simple, it comes with a harness to plug into the back of the stock head unit. Then operates off of the FM button until it goes to AUX mode.

I had the Vaistech adapter installed by the Lexus dealership and its better than any transmitter you can buy.
Its alot more expensive, but the quality is awesome.
