Default Error 3 on my CD changer...

I've been out of state for a week, and left my car to my dad and brother. Well, now I'm back and my CD changer is making this horrible clicking sound whether you change tracks or try to eject, neither work. After a while, it just flashes ERROR 3 on the screen and quits trying. Dealership is too far to get it done anytime soon, is there any kind of easy fix or is this something worse? thanks!

ERROR 3 means your CD player is jamming or is already jammed ... I just had this fixed.

The ol Error 3 is haunting your unit. Very common. Most of the time it is a jammed burned CD. Can you see the edge of one trying to come out? Credit card or tiny tweezers work well.
Otherwise it is jammed or internally broken.
Not the easiest thing to take apart in your are inclined. Reman units go for around 500.00 at the dealer and they ship yours off to get the cds removed. I get it once in a while for no reason. Turning it off and on usually fixes it for me.

I always hold my breath during this process and hope for the best. Each time it comes back to life and works.

Last month I bought a 2002 SC430 in Chicago. Found out driving back to Michigan that I had error code 3 also. I tried all the past suggestions, to no avail. I pulled the unit out last week, took it apart, and found out that 2 of the 6 plastic cd trays had jumped out of one of two guide pins that keep the 6 trays moving smoothly up and down. I had to take 3 pieces of bare wire to unhook and hold in place 3 springs. I then took off the metal top tray, pulled all 6 plastic trays out, and then placed them back the way they were designed. I am thrilled to say that it works perfectly now. I cannot understand how these 2 trays could have possible jumped off the guide pin without someone going in through the cd entry slot and going nuts with some kind of make-shift tool. I got a very good price for the car, maybe it was lowered because of the jacked up cd player, but maybe it'd my fault for not trying the cd player out before I made the purchase. In any event, fixing an error code 3 might not always be easy.
