Regarding the brake clunk mentioned several times in this thread, check out this thread. It gives the solution to the clunk. (Most dealers will tell you that it is normal. However, you can fix it. I and others have.)

Scott, the fluttering sound you mention sounds like your anti-lock brake pump kicking in. If you are braking and one of your tires leaves the ground, the anti-lock brake system will recognize that as a tire losing traction and will automatically start pumping the brake for you.

Well, I got the clunk/knock/clink.....whatever you call it. I'm actually surprised there are only very old links for this issue.........at least this was one of the only links I could find. So I got the best Permatex Silicone Cermaic brake lube (up to 3000 degrees) and going to try the recommendations to lube the retainers, pad guides, calipers, etc. Just curious if anyone knows of any more recent developments on this topic.
The other question that came to mind is whether to use OEM pads during replacement, or is there a recommended aftermarket brand that may provide a better fit to eliminate the pad shift.

Hi everyone,
I just bought a used '03 SC 430 with 28K miles on it. The car looks and drives great, but it seems everytime I'm at slow speeds parking, when I turn the steering wheel, I hear this metallic clink sound from near the front axel.
The car doesn't seem to do it while I'm turning at higher speeds while driving, just mostly during parking. I'm planning to send the car into the Lexus dealer for a 30K service soon anyway to have this checked out, but I was wondering if any other SC 430 owners experience this out there?
Thanks for any info.
