the ps2 are max performance tires, they don't last that long, maybe 15k miles or so. that's the price you pay for performance

i have the pilot sport a/s (all season). they lose a bit of handling, but they are just as comfortable and quiet. i love them

I just ordered a set of non-runflats tires from tirerack and I can't wait to have them installed.
My front runflats are almost bald after 23k miles on them. The rears were replaced not too long ago but still the ride is getting unbearable. My teeth hurt after a 30 minute ride and it won't be long till they all fall out! The car skipped and hops over the bumps in the road and I just don't feel too confident taking turns in a spirited fashion. I can feel the steering wheel "gravitate" towards the inperfections in the road.

I'll report back how the ride is when I install the new tires this weekend but from what I'm reading here it sounds like I'm gonna get my "Lexus ride."
I'm also ordering a Lexus spare tire kit soon and I'll post up pics once that is installed

I might be sorry later, but right now I'm thrilled with the ride of Bridgestone's Potenza RE960 AS after discarding the Bridgestone run-flats on my 2002 SC 430. I have no idea how many miles I'll get out of them, but the warranty is for 40,000 miles. I'll never go back to run-flats on any vehicle.

Thanks for the info from Clublexus forum that I read prior to the decision to go with different type tires. I now have the "Lexus Ride".

AAA and a cell phone will take care of me now.

Thanks guys,

lar

PV, here's my story.... I purchased the Bridgestone's from Discount Tire for under $1K. Kicked around the Michelin Pilot Spt PS/2 idea for a while. The knowledgeable salesperson convinced me the price diff doesn't justify the PS/2 and to expect a few more miles. He also said to expect a better ride with the Bridgestones. I'm all about a Lexus ride. (I know nothing about tires except you have to keep air in them.)

Included during the 40K miles is free replacement through the lifetime of the tire if it can't be repaired. Lifetime spin balancing and rotations. And, of course all the other fees they charge including taxes. I also got a $75 rebate, so for now I'm pleased like a peach.

Discount tire is considerably closer than Tire Rack and I do all my business with them. I have a Toy Ltd 4Runner and Camry they service as well.

Default Run Flats

All this is good info about the run flats. I have a Z4 BMW with run flats. The problem is out of round wear after about 10,000 miles. When this happens the road noise is terrible. I expect the run flats on my new sc will do the same. Additionaly, the bad ride is more noticable in this smooth, quiet car. For me the spare kit is not an option. I allways carry my golf clubs in the car. I have not had a flat tire in at least 20 years. With a can of inflate to seal up the tire and a small pump I think I would be willing to risk it. The question I have is, if you dammage the sensor on the tire pressure monitor, what is the cost to replace/repair it? It would seem a small price to pay for the unlikely possibility of having to use the repair can.
Thanks for input.
