I got my SC a few weeks back and I noticed when the top is closed I get a headache from the "new car smell". It's an 04 and the seller told me he had the top down almost 2 months straight prior to my purchase. The smell is pretty strong and I have had the windows open or top down constantly.
Can someone tell me how long the smell will last? Maybe examples of how strong their smell is for the age of the car? Your information will help, and be very appreciated.
Don't want a different car, don't want headaches. I'm bummed....
Thanks,
Mark

It sounds strange but the car only has 13K miles and everyone that gets in the car says the car smells new. They think its an 06 or 07.
Just wondering if anyone else feels that their car still smells new after a few years.
Thanks!

Febreze sounds funny but it might help.
I happen to have some and just sprayed it on the carpet and plastics. I will let you know if it helps. Man, people are on this forum late at night.
A lot of people actually like the smell but, websites say that the smell is outgassing and can be dangerous to your health. I am definitely more sensitive to this than the average person. I appreciate the constructive information.

Andrew, you know how often I've traded cars over the past few years. If the new car smell really can kill you, I should have been dead a long time ago. Oh well, at least I will die happy.

After talking to a lot of Lexus owners and dealers, the topic of the lingering leather smell keeps coming up. I have ordered some smell reducing products and will apply some cleaner/conditioner products to the leather.
Ventilation and heat speed up the process of outgassing. Lucky it's a convertible and summers coming up.
Thanks to everyone for their help.
