brake caliper fell off!!
Has anyone heard or experienced a brake caliper loosing all its bolts and the caliper falling off? I have NOT had any brake work done ...no one has worked on my car recently. Could this have been connected with someone tampering with my vehicle? Any info would really be appreciated!

First I have heard of this from anyone on this forum. It would be a bit difficult to loosen while climbing under the car as the torque specs are too tight for a simple ratchet to loosen if properly torqued. Not too mention the car is pretty darn low.
Anything is possible, upset mechanic during a oil change, etc... But for it to lose the bolts on it's own........just not heard of. Curious, which bolts came off, the entire caliper or just the half piece?

Brake Pin
I just turned in my IS250 this morning due to a really loud grinding noise coming from under my car. Turns out, my pin completely fell out. So to answer your question, it is possible.

its probably due to the bad roads and the caliper bolts weren't tightened properly that the bolts loosened.
if someone really wanted to tamper with your vehicle, they could have just slice the brake fluid line.

Just after I bought my 99LC i started hearing a grinding noise from the right rear wheel. turns out one of the caliper pens had backed out and the caliper was pivoting down against the wheel. It etched the inside of the rim before i was able to get home and replace the pin. No problems since.
